996 C4 spare the way to go for 997S?
i figured i might as well pick up the inflatable spare when i'm getting the new exhaust tips installed. after reading the previous posts on this topic it appears as though this is still the way to go along with accompanying kit, scissor jack, lug wrench and bungee straps. one question i had; with bose installed does that just preclude you from laying the tire flat as opposed to standing it upright?also appears the new spare for the 997 TT only works on that vehicle. sounds like the whole thing runs around $900-$1k. it will provide peace of mind given the vulnerability of the wide profile tires and avoiding a towing debacle. any last minute thoughts before i donate more money to porsche?

Here's THE exact part numbers which worked for me on my 2006 997s back in November 2005. Tire was us$740 jack us$190. If your part numbers differ I'd do more research.
A flat REAR tire will BARELY BARELY slip past the seat into the back.
You can also carry DIY plug kit and avoid goo use.

The inflatable spare will only fit upright and takes up one half of the trunk, such as it is. I have other "stuff" wedged in keep it from bouncing up and denting the hood from the inside. Not sure if it will fit back in when inflated. I will fab up some sort of a mounting contraption in the spring and post details. Photos others have shown basically use bungee cables to some available point in the trunk to hold it in. Not sure how effective they are. Do a search, this topic has been posted before.
In place of the overpriced (what a surprise) Porsche parts, a scissor jack & lug wrench from an auto parts can probably be had for $50. I have my doubts about the furnished air pump, the size of a paperback book.
If the 997TT has a proper mounting attachment, that may be the way to go, if the parts can be had.

It will fit the base and the S. It fits the S with bigger front rotors so it will clear the base too.
As for the diameter of the red painted wheel? Not impt and I never measured it. The total diameter of the tire *when inflated* is 26 inches (matches the 996) which is less than the 27 inches of 997 and 997S tires (but works fine).
IOW, PCA recommends this exact tire/wheel. I guess Porsche dealerships are blessed by Porsche to sell it as a spare for the 997 even though it's for a 996.

It IS the "official" spare so hopefully it won't trigger a major system fault.
Since we'd be nuts to drive like fools and go faster than 50 (?) mph on it, not having effective PSM isn't a problem.
