Default Exhaust Tips Recall

A month or two ago, I saw a small article in AUTOWEEK regarding an upcoming recall on 997's -- something about the exhaust tips potentially falling off. Anyway, 2 weeks ago I called my dealer and made an appointment. He told me that they had not yet received the full update from Porsche, but by the time I bring my car in (next week), they would have it ready to go...

Has anyone else done this? If so, what did the recall work involve?

Also interesting -- When the service technician checked the Porsche computer for my car, he told me there were six or seven other "updates" that they would make while I'm in for the recall work. I wonder what that's all about.

This should be interesting.

possibly not welded on properly, or just fitted, and it's just spot welding?

The service manager in The Collection told me that they are not taking any more cars for the recall because they received a letter from PCNA stating that they are not paying for it anymore...very weird to issue a recall and then refuse to do the job!

What else do they have to do?

1) Tip replacement
2) Shift linkage bracket

I would think they would have a hard time denying that to owners that have received cards in the mail as i did on saturday...biggest hassle is the inconvenience of dropping it off for just this fix...

Mine was waiting for me in the mail when I arrived home tonight. Glad I got my appointment made a couple weeks ago, as the dealer will probably be pretty busy for a while...

Got mine today as well. I already have an appointment to install the PSE and Evo induction system, along with the illuminated side sills. Thank goodness I booked an appointment in advance.

No wonder you can't find the chrome tail pipe tips anywhere.

What could possibly go wrong with the exhaust tips? Anyone has any pic of the parts that need to be replaced? A lot of the owners seem to think that their exhaust tips are rock solid and is hard to believe that it will fall off.

Can I confirm this again please: I have PSE. Are PSE equiped cars not within the recall? In other words, only NON-PSE cars will be recalled?
