The day I might consider buying a Mac is the day Apple allows the Mac to be loaded with Windows OS (the second part of the Wintel team is already there) and makes it faster than a Dell and prices it below a Dell. ... In other words, it ain't happening.

My company is in bed with Dell, and all employees get a significant discount when buying from Dell.

I've bought several Dell systems for friends and family but I don't plan on buying one for myself. I've built my own computer systems from scratch for the past 12 yrs or so. I plan to upgrade and build my next machine this weekend, starting with the AMD 64bit processor and an Abit MB and building from there.

So basically you want a Windows OS based on a Linux platform?

I won't buy a mac
after seeing FIRST HAND how they **** with customers, in 5 months of owning a new iPod, forget it. i bought a wall charger - $40 - and it didn't even come with a ****ing cord to connect it to the iPod, they expect you to unplug the one from your computer
Bull****. I sent in a service request and said mine were broken. when it comes time to replace my iPod, I will be moving to a different brand. I mean they sell you a computer then make you pay hundreds of dollars for a keyboard and mouse.
**** mac.

Easy with the hostility and language. Substitute symbols or get creative with spelling. Seriously.

As for your bitterness you are just part of the ipod craze and not the computer user they target--ipod is their money maker and the computers are for the faithful. I have had 2 Mac's and 3 ipods in the last 4 years and NEVER a problem and fantastic customer support.

Seriously, just chill a bit. It's friday and you should be in a better mood than that. I realize Canada didn't do so well in THEIR sport (hockey) but life goes on.

Not sure what you mean by that, Dell. Linux is just an open source OS software package that is used primarily in servers, though it is gaining in popularity for desktop systems. Oh, and it's available essentially free for the taking. Not sure what you meant by a Linux platform.

Funny how a thread can turn, go way off topic, and have a life of it's own.
Never owned a PC only a MAC since the '80's
I chuckle when I hear this:
I plan to upgrade and build my next machine this weekend
And the struggles that PC guys have making things work

To Vancouver83LTD, OCBen
Someday you'll see the light...

That's what they tell you mac heads so you don't dare take a peek and see the true light for yourselves - that these machines are really simple to put together and cost peanuts compared to macs!

I never struggle to make things work, but then again I'm no ordinary PC guy either. You might say I belong to a special breed called "overclockers" who enjoy "over-clocking" the processor's basic clock speed to boost performance. It's easier to do with an AMD chip. But the problem you get into is excessive heat generation. But fortunately there are many cooling options available to overclockers.

I was tempted to go with a water-cooled processor setup but then realized for the cost of the cooling system I could easily upgrade to a 64 Bit processor and be ahead of the game that way. These systems are really cool looking. The hydraulic lines are of clear plastic and the coolant glows under black-lighting. With a clear side panel you can actually see the coolant running through your system.

This is an entirely different world of hotrodding! ... In the forums you have the air-cooled addicts vs the water-cooled addicts.
