Default Driver Seatbelt Recoil Issue

Anyone ever have this issue? My driver side seatbelt recoil seems to be pretty wimpy to the point now that the last 12" or so will not recoil at all unless I help it along and feed it back into the slot. The passenger side belt works fine.

Is this an easy fix for the service dept? (I assume I cannot fix this myself - or can I?)

thanks!

I have problem on the passenger side and the buckle actually hit the door entry a few times.

Interesting. Well, its a warranty issue but i will probably wait till the spring when I get an oil change. By then I will have about 3000 miles but I am going for the oil change anyway. I want to get on a spring pattern of a check up, oil change, etc. after the long winter. Did this for 4 years straight on the 993. And, others on the Board thought an oil change after the 2000 mile breakin cannot be a 'bad' idea (in other words, probably 'not' necessary, but why not perform the change to be sure). So, I will get this recoil fixed at that point.

I don't know for sure that this will solve your problem, but try extending the belt all the way out until it stops, then allow the "reel" to pull it all back in. Sometimes that will "tighten up" the slack you're experiencing.

Same thing on mine... In fact, I've inadvertantly shut the door on the metal part while it was limply hanging in the entry way. I have three nice scratches/gouges to prove it.

Default Update

To close the loop on this story, I was washing and waxing over the weekend and noticed that the belt on the passenger side was flat from the gound to ceiling, while on the driver side it had a 180 degree turn. I thought to myself "maybe it IS twisted internally after all". It was. I forced a 180 degree twist and it works perfectly now. duh!!!!

Good to hear a happy ending. And thanks for reporting it. Too often stuff gets fixed and no one finds out about it. So we never know what it was.
