Minor Annoyances

lights will stay on for 30secs if you put light switch into 'home' (i/o 'off' position).

Actually, I'm more concerned about leaving the lights in the "on" position and coming back to a dead battery. In many of my other cars, I never touch the light buttons. The lights come on when it gets dark, go off when it's light and go off sometime after the ignition is swithed off.

My minor pet peeves: (1) I hate that with the 997 cab you can't open the top with the key in the door as one could with the 996. I found that feature a lot more practical than being able to open the top while moving. (2) I really preferred the 996 window switches: 4 switches located on the center console. They were a lot easier to operate than having two switches on the door and having to operate a toggle to access the rear windows. (3) The damn seat belt chime.

Ditto that frickin seat belt alarm. Geez! Also, two stage unlocking, one push for driver a second to open passenger's side, fuel door, etc would be nice

NO FRICKIN' DIPSTICK!
I hate relying on unreliable electronics to tell me when to add some oil! ... I almost added a quart when the electronic dip**** said I was a quart low and flashing! The following morning it read FULL! I wouldn't be surprised if excessive oil contributed to that glitch in AeroSmith's Blue Zoomer.
Anyway, not being able to see and feel and smell the life-blood of my 911 is my biggest grievance.

I'm with Ben on this one. It just weirds me out not to be able to actually see the oil. For about a week, I've been down about a 1/2 qt. Miraculously, at my last fill-up, my 997S created oil and topped off the tank. Well, at least for a day or so. This is a good trick, don't you think?
I wish there were a way to access the trip function without having to defeat sound first. My trunk spends more time open than closed in my garage. I found this out when I kept wondering whose car was beeping in my driveway. Oops, mine.
