Question Storage question for Northerners

It's that time of year again for most of us northern folk. Time to put the Pcar into winter hibernation.

What would be a good inflation number to set the 19" Michelins at to avoid flat spotting them over the next 6 months?

Thanks!

50psi is a good number to keep them at or above.
Tire Cradles are a plus, or at least parked on plywood/carpet (keep them off concrete).

why do you suggest parking on plywood or carpeting? i'm going to put my baby into winter mode too which i won't be driving it as long as the streets are nasty. i usually get it out a few times a month. i've heard mixed stories on how much cradles really help so i'm curious about the plywood/carpet options.

thanks.

You can make your own cradles with a large plastic bag partially filled with pre-mixed concrete (avail in small bags at Homedepot). Remove a tire from hub and place it on the concrete, let it harden. Do this three more times. Then jack up each corner of car and lower it onto your new concrete pillows. Then again, flat spotsare not really a problem, they supposedly just reacquire their usual shape after a few miles of driving.

I just roll the car a quarter turn of the wheels every couple of weeks. And I keep the tires hard. Worked fine on the old Pontiacs. Should work on the fresh Porsche.

Maybe I’ll even drive in the snow a bit for fun.

In the Chicago area there are really only a handful of days per year when the roads are covered with snow. Most of the time in winter the roads are just as usuable as in the summer. No hibernation for me. I plan to drive it year round even though I have a dedicated AWD car for winter saving that for the really nasty days before the roads are cleared.

or, keep your summer tires round by storing them after you mount 4 snows. AS

Default fuel stabilizer

Is it recommended to add stabilizer to fuel for winter storage?

I wish!!!!

Ever been to Ontario in the middle of winter and had the pleasure of driving? Today's weather is calling for freezing rain!!

That's why there are 4 snowmobiles now sitting in the garage where my C2S was.

I add stabilizer to the gas and then go for a drive to make sure it is mixed and distributed throughout the fuel system. Distribution was always a larger issue with my carbureted cars than it has been with the newer fuelies, but it doesn’t hurt. A full fuel tank is also recommended.

We have not had enough snow for snowmobiling regularly in my part of Wisconsin for years. I gave up and just go out and play in the truck. Had snow, 2" rain, and then freezing temps last year. Nice skating rink behind the house. Had a blast.
