I know you well versed guys hate this one, but...
I have searched the forums and sent several pm as well as test drove all back to back. I currently drive a 2003 M3 and felt the new 997 C4S to be most "comfortable" to me. I do feel the C2S is more "fun" to drive, but since I track mine, I could most easily move into the new C4S. I was set to place my order, that is until...
My local dealer accepted in trade yesterday a 2005 C2S launch car that they sold to this same individual about one year ago. It has 4k miles and everything on it as you would expect...full leather, adaptive sport seats, heated seats, self dimming mirror, nav, sport chrono, bose and PCCB. It is in the color that I want and most people advise that I will wish I had a C2S for the track, even if it will take some time to learn it's ways.
Please help!

If you have another car for winter use, then go for it. I believe in what AUTOCAR had said: "In 2005, regardless of price, the driver car of the year is 997 Carrera S." Happy motoring!

chris,
i had an 03 m3 which i tracked and now i have a 997s which i also track. the difference between both cars is phenomenal. once you get used to the c2s and adjust your driving style it is very rewarding and is much more fun to drive than the c4s. with the c2s you can evetually turn all driver aid (PSM) off and become a better driver but with the c4s you will have no control over how the power is split between front and rear tires and you end up driving reactively to changes the computer makes to power split.

I am in the same boat... I have a 2003 M3 and looking for a 997. I drove both C2S and C4S back to back this weekend and found the C2S more to my liking.
Can't go wrong with either one.

I went from an E36 M3 to a C4S to a C2 to a GT3, tracked them all. Modern 911s are pussycats, no need to go with AWD to ease the transition to the rear engined Porsche. . . go right for the C2S.

Ditto what frayed said. I see no benefit to AWD in these cars when it comes to performance driving. Just added weight and complexity...which is never fun. Oh, and the C4S has wider rear wheels/tires, which means more understeer, which isn't fun either.

The C4s has more weight in the front and will feel more like your 50/50 M3. The C2s is IMO harder and more rewarding to drive fast and has the more traditional 911 feel. It's unnerving until you modify your driving style, but it sticks.

?How much is the dealer asking for the C2S launch car?
