Default gray poll...seal vs atlas vs slate

what is your favorite gray color for a 997???? seal, atlas or slate....seal is the most commonly seen....but the atlas and slate seem to be more interesting in that they change with the lighting and have deeper hues....your opinions and any good pics if you guys have any..thanks....

More important than opinions are pictures of 997s in the various colors you're interested in. Look at enough photographs, or cars in person, and the right color will make itself known to you.

Good luck with your choice.

And more important than pictures is actually seeing these colors in person. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but it can also lie to you with some of those words. Better to see and evaluate in person, both in the light and in the dark.

All are great, but Seal is a little too common now, slate is nice but I don't think it's worth the $$$.

Atlas all the way......yes, I'm a little biased.....

I would have to say that Slate edges out the other two. The current issue (Oct/Nov #316) of Christophorus mag carries photos of a drop-dead gorgeous slate gray car starting on page 28. (I emailed the photo editor to confirm the exact color! ) Combined with the dark interior, so aggressive but so rich.

Really? I would have sworn that was Atlas, because of the predominance of dark blue highlights over the brown ones evident in Slate.

I would have to, reluctantly, agree with you. Saw another Slate yesterday at the dealership and wished I hadn't changed my order when I did. It is a beautiful color. Caught myself daydreaming about winning the lottery and ordering a new S in Slate with the X51.

Thanks for the heads up on the Christophorus article. Did that issue get recently mailed out? I don't think I've received mine yet. I'll be sure to turn to page 28.

Photos of Slate can fool you, and even seeing it in person, depending on the lighting. When I saw one for the first time it was an overcast day and the color looked very drab like a darker grey without any rich tones. I wasn't impressed and so I changed my order.
