Sobe is right - you need to go with your heart. Your first post tells all - you would be bored with silver. A once-in-every 10 year car should excite you, and silver just doesn't do it for you!

I'd vote for Silver...all of those dark colors will be harder to maintain in the longer run, and the sliver looks great and appears to be desirable should you ever decide to resell.

This is my car in Atlas Grey.

Unfortunately I haven't gotten around to take a better picture in the sunshine (I'm driving it at that time ) but the color really comes out beautifully. Metallic grey with a blue hue and at night it looks nearly black.

I nearly ordered basalt black because it was different and wasn't silver but I am VERY happy I ordered Atlas. I wasn't up for the work a black car demands.

you need to go see an atlas grey car in person and preferrably on a sunny day. It is a color that I didi not consider looking at the the website. Once I saw it live, it is the color for me.

BTW my last four cars have been black. I don't think you'll be bored by this color.

Me too! Atlas is a color you must see live - preferably on a sunny day.

IMHO, a 997 looks best in black. Basalt was a close 2nd for me because I thought it would hide swirls better, but it seemed to have a brown tinge to it in the sun which I didn't like. Judging from your post, I think you want black but don't want the headache of maintaining it. Go with your heart! Don't let one of us decide which colour is best for you.

Why be independent, go with the crowd...after all we cannot have too many black/silver/grey Porsche's or BMW's & Mercs can we?

I love my Seal Grey, but my 2001 was black, and I really miss the black. The car is so sharp in black.

I voted silver.

Thumbs up

After going to the dealership just now with my wife, I think I'm leaning towards my original plan of going with Midnight Blue Metallic. It is a great color and when it is dirty, it looks better than both black and arctic silver.

I just kinda freaked after seeing a bad picture of midnight blue (see attached) and thought I might be better off going with black (which I really like a lot too).

I really appreciate all of the feedback though, it has been super helpful!

I've ordered Atlas Grey and Cocoa interior for my S - I liked Atlas as soon as I saw it. But both Atlas and Cocoa are a bit different so I can understand why they're not to everyone's taste. Anyways as the other posters have said - go with your heart and that will be the right choice!

I'll post photos when mine arrives (early November now apparently - am I getting pushed back for you guys over the pond? Yours always seem to be being brought forward).

Have fun,

D.

I'm a big fan of black cars. I'm not sure why everyone thinks they are so hard to keep clean? I put an excellent base on (Klasse) 2 months ago then two coats of wax. Since then just used final finish and california dust buster. Its clean and shiney all the time. Of course mine is not a daily driver. There is nothing better than a clean black p-car, IMO.

Do they do Iris Blue for 997? Lighter than Midnight Blue but darker than Cobalt.

Lapis Blue is very close to that color, so if you like that color you'll love Lapis Blue.
