Used 997S priced higher than new?
Hi,
I was looking at an lightly used (3-4 months) 2005 997S with under 1000 miles. I worked out the MSRP of the car to be $86,625, but the dealer says the lowest he can let it go for is $81,000 with certified warranty. Is this too high?
I mean, he says he bought the car for around $80,000, which I highly doubt based on how people are saying that dealers have a 12-14% markup with the MSRP, and some dealers offering up to 6%, why would this Porsche dealer purchase the car for $80,000 used from an non-Porsche dealership?
Is he just playing hardball for the sake of it, or is there really a market for high priced 2005?
Thanks!

Looked into that, found out that I cannot purchase a new car since I'm from Canada, so going to buy a lightly used one. I wish I can just plop some money on a new one though
Anyways, I have a shortlist of 3 cars, just seeing if this Porsche dealer is lying to me when he says he bought the used Porsche for $80,000 from a non Porsche dealership, so he cannot go lower than $81,500. Just sounds odd that they would buy a car used from someone that's more expensive than them getting a new car.

Actually the car wasn't sold by that dealership and wasn't traded into that dealership. The dealer bought it from another dealership for $80K.

Rebe:
I think that's a car I watched on Ebay, and made an offer at 77.5K. Is it Cobalt? If so, Brandywine did buy it at close to $80K. Seems like a fair deal, given that simialry equipped S cars are still selling at $85-87K.

Chris
