Hurry up and wait .....I thought that was only an Army thing. I guess the Navy believes in this too.

Well at least everyone here has an order placed and a date on the calander marked. Remember there are those like me, still trying to configure their 997 and locate a dealer with allocation spot.

First thing I did was order a 997 Owner's Manual. I've read it cover-to-cover. Then I downloaded the PCM Manual from a link posted here and read through that, just to get ready. There's a lot of stuff you can adjust via the PCM.

I also ordered clear side-markers from BumperPlugs.com (the least expensive place to get them, by the way) and they are sitting on my desk...waiting.

I've also been tracking ships since my dealer told me my car went "on vessel" Sept 21st. The "Orion Diamond" arrived in San Diego this morning full of cars from Germany - I was sure "my ship had come in." I was wrong. The "Orion Diamond" is packin' BMWs. D'oh!

The next auto carrier due into San Diego is the "Auto Banner," arriving Tuesday. My dealer assures me that's my boat. So, I'm getting dangerously close to be a waiter no more! Man, the last few days are agony.

Leader...when did you order yours? I ordered mine on Aug 11...I am hopeful that it will be in late Nov, early Dec as I am going to Maui for 2 1/2 weeks in late Dec - early Jan...I really want to be the one who does all of the "break in" driving on the engine (as opposed to the test drivers beating up my car).

Is my timing wishful thinking...my sales person does not seem to know.

I ordered in June. Got an October build-date with a projected December delivery. Car was built early (obviously), hopped on the boat Sept 21, arrives San Diego Oct 18. What was going to be a six-month-wait will now be only a four-month-wait.

Monday morning the City of Los Angeles is coming to grind up our street in preparation for repaving. What do you think the odds are that the neighborhood will be a debris-filled, dusty mess when I bring the new C2S home? I'm guessing - pretty good. Arrrgghh.

Leader, can you tell me where did you order the owner's manual and can you give me the link for the PCM manual? Thanks. I am expecting to get me in December.

Yes, Renntech has PDFs of all the pertinent manuals for your 997. Makes for some fun reading while you're waiting for delivery. You'll probably know more about the car than the salesman who "walks you through it" the day you take possession.

Here are pictures of my detailing station, hose reel, air reel, and compressor. So, if the wait is killing you, its time to get busy setting up your garage!!!!

Did you hear about the guy, tired of waiting for his P-car, who sold his house in CA and moved to the east coast just so he could get his P-car 2 weeks sooner?

Actually, its an old Onkyo analog receiver that used to be my home theater receiver. It has new life now, along with two big center channel speakers re-tasked as the left and right speakers mounted at the corners of the garage. It actually sounds fantastic and its great to have real tunes in the garage!! I actually built that entire wall unit you see there so I wired a set of feeds to the receiver that run to the upstairs HT setup so I can listen to CDs, cable tv (i.e. the game when its on), or any other source if I dont feel like regular AM/FM.

Waiting mainly,...as I am doing now in the airport in Reno!
Let's see:
1) increased spending on car mags to about $300/year
2) Joined Rennlist
3) New hobby - designing a p-car enthusiast site
4) Started pretending that my current car is my ordered car - then sought therapy.
5) Continued waiting
