Default Trip Roundup

Finished the trip today...New Mexico to Los Angeles, a 12:31 stint covering 911.1 miles 74mph av and 25mpg.
Interesting day starting out driving in thick fog and then cross winds in AZ steady 20-25 with gusts to 40, really amazing how much a car can be pushed around on the road, and does not make for a relaxing drive.
Boy do I have bugs...

Final trip stats:
Traversed 17 states
Miles covered: 4852
Seat time: 72:10
Av Speed: 68
Av MPG 25.2
Oil Consumed 0
Porsches spotted 0

I was wonering why some people buy a Porsche and not drive them..What Fun or Joy is that...They don't know what they are missing.

Welcome back to the left coast! I'm going to pop down tomorrow to the Q to check out the yellow CGT at the school!

MJones:

With all the clearbra discussion on this board and considering one myself wondering do you have one? If not, many road chips from your trip?

TIA

No I do not have a clear bra, never liked their look, not to mention the seams.
Seems that driving around LA is more dangerous than a road trip for debris,
and road trips are fairly easy on the exterior of the car.

Chips are just the patina of driving, and I've had them as high up as the windshield edge of the hood.
Some folks may as well just rap the whole car just in case...

I'am not the least OCD about my car, It's all about driving it, Track, Hi-ways, gravel roads, dirt roads, rain, snow, it's seen it all since March after all it is just a car, just alot more fun to drive than the others

what is your total mileage these days? I'd guess you have the most on a 997 out there.

Hey, MJones, I totally agree with you about buying a Porsche or I guess any other performance car and not driving it. There are cheaper garage decorations to be had. By the way, is there anything out there anyone is aware of to safely put on your car at the beginning of a road trip to make bugs easier to clean off? When we go to Lake Powell my boat-puller (Yukon XL) gets inundated. Don't laugh but I tried putting PAM (you know the non-stick spray for cooking) on it at the advice of a friend and it got baked on byt the 105 degrees. Took me two weeks to get it off. Just wondering.
