Default fuel efficiency

just curious to see how many mpg y'all are getting in your 997s.
porsche says 17 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.
i've driven mine almost 1,000 miles now, and even when driving on a 20 mile commute with 90% gentle highway driving, never do better than like 16.1 mpg.
is this average, low, or high?

On average, 70-80 mph on the highway, and since it's Texas and has been really hot lately, I've been adjusting the cabin temp. anywhere from 63F - 68F.

I'm getting somewhat better mileage over time. Initially I was only getting 15 - 16 mpg combined but now I've been averaging 17.3 with 6 K on the clock.

I've been getting between 19 and 23.9, based solely on the readings from the on-board computer. This is on the highway going 60-80. I got close to 27 on my '02 996 cab. I would be interesting to see if there is any significant difference between the base and S models. I mention this because rss997 says he gets 28 with his base model.

My car is in the metric system. How many miles or km do you get on a full tank of gas? I get about 230km. About 17.1 l/km or something like that.

Is that normal? Seems mighty short range to me.

Thanks

I just noticed 15.9 the other day. That includes some racing around town stuff. Got my wings clipped this week so it should improve

When new (<1500 miles) I was seeing an average for my typical week of 18 mpg for both city and highway. Now at 4400 miles I see the average for my typical week of 21 mpg. If I make a trip of between 100 - 200 miles on the highway I will get about 24 mpg. I usually drive between 80 - 90 mph on the highway with the a/c set to 68 °. My average weekly drive is a commute of 16 miles (one way) with about 10 miles on the highway. Weekends I do a 4 mile round trip on backroads (30 mph limit) on both Sat and Sun. This generally kills the average for the week.

I average 24 MPG BUT, have got it up to 29 MPG (average) on a trip the other week. The BEST I got from my 997 was 31.5 MPG! Incredible. Way better than my 2003 996.

Interesting. I used to average about 22 mpg in my 02 996. That was a combo between freeway and city and driving hard. I wonder why the new S is so much less.
