There is not much give in these rubber straps beyond what is already stretched to make the installation. I appreciate your concern.

Adding to DD694's experimentation:

I bought a jack and spare as well since I'm on long trips quite often and I'd rather not wait for porsche roadside. I removed the bose surround amp and cover and relocated the amp. This gave room for the spare to fit flat on the floor of the frunk. The spare is a tight friction fit. No chance of it bouncing around. I also cut a piece of plywood to fit and carpeted it. My frunk is now half size (halfsize is better than nosize) but I've got a spare and it looks clean and neat (after I clean up my sawdust).

Nicely done. I love it when good solutions are found. Uh oh! Here comes the buzz-killing voice of my evil twin: nix the plywood, get rid of the styrofoam wheel insert and there's room for another bag of groceries.

Where did you now have the Bose amp?

What do you plan to do with the wheel you take off if you have to use the spare? Can you even fit the rear wheel in the back? I know that I can barely fit a rear in the back of my GT3 and that's with no back seats.

you'll see the bose amp relocated to the right side of the new arrangement. It's esentially zip tied to the liner of the trunk (almost sewn to the liner through the mounting holes with a plastic backing plate behind the carpet to prevent rip through). It could probably do without the zip tie job. the spare is really shoe-horned into place and the amp follows suit (but there's still enough air flow around the amp).

If i get a flat, it'll get plastic bagged (note the white garbage bags in the pic near the window scraper) and put in the back seat area. One wheel/tire fits fine back there temporarily.

All of this was addressed several years ago. You should invest in a Das Shield as well.

Where does the take off wheel go? What is ultimately the real question. No full-sized 997 wheel will easily fit inside the car.

Hmm - must be a .1 - I don't have a cover at the bottom like that with amp under it. What spare did you order?

Key word is "easily." AFAIK, it will reportedly fit in back seat area. It's got about a mm to spare when sliding it past the front seat back.

Yup. Good point. It's very large. Size is unlike any household garbage bags I've ever seen. You might have to get a single mattress bag from a moving company and cut it in half if you're trying to get this stuff together.

And you would want a bag that won't puncture if there are exposed steel belts protruding from the tire.

The tire carriers from TireRack and other sources that cover the rubber for carry and storage are going in the right way. If you close up the ends fully and add some padding to those types of bags you are there.

Still, if you have stuff (luggage, etc) in the back seat... then what. If I'm going on a long trip, the frunk and back are most likely full.. but you can always relocate some stuff into the space in the frunk vacated by the spare.

Yup! This is what I bought as you suggested. Should be tough enough to get the wheel to the shop while protecting the interior. Also have a spare towel for the non covered portions of the rim as well as the seat.
