i was pretty surprised myself with it - he did not reveal how many orders were taken only that it was more than 48 and he was surprised with the turn-out.
Be even cooler to win it
Oh the car that you win will be a high serial # but they don't know which one yet of course - i guess it depends on the orders and who asks for what. The one they showed at the parade, is the other one that they have not decided what to do with - could go to the porsche museum, maybe the PCA, Jack, who knows.

When I add up the options on this car excluding x51 it comes out to about 91,500. Does this mean the x51 will be around 8.5k? How much was this option on a 996?

Are you sure you calculated correctly? According to my calculations, the options add up to over 100K without X51, which you then would be getting for free. I understand that the X51 option will be very expensive, at least 8.5 K from dealer.

I think the x51 is closer to a range of $12.5-$14. The Euro price is oner $10.

Powerkit alone is 10,400 EUR (tax free, source MY06 pricelist Oy AutoCarrera Ab) that number equates to $12,878 USD

MY04 Powerkit was was $13,990

What PCNA pegs the cost at for MY06 is still an unknown factor but sure to be greater than 13k

I would prefer midnight blue... but the options vs. price makes it really tempting... not so hang up on the Special Edition frenzy since it has not done anything to the resale values of other recent special editions (does not hurt but not the reason for my interest in the car).

It only means I have to get rid of the R32, the 964, and eat unsalted crackers for 5 years… not bad, I could benefit from going on a diet.

This is how i cam up with the price

base: 79,100; color to sample: 4,315; rear console exterior color: 730; sport seats: 760; thicker wheel 800; steel stills: 415; sport chron: 920; full leather: 3,315; sport shifter: 765; sport design: 390; mats: 115 = 91,625 without x51

I'm sorry, but I HATE the color! Sissy Powder Blue – how cute! … Not exactly a color that evokes prowess, is it? Who picked this color anyway??? Why couldn’t they have picked Guards Red or Speed Yellow??? Better yet, for a 50th anniversary edition, why couldn’t they have resurrected that gold color that the 996 used to have, what was it, Mirage? I really like that color. How many here remember it? It was like a blend of gold and silver – a very subtle gold, but gold nonetheless.

I signed up. And if I were to win, I’d sell it immediately on EBay. I wouldn’t be caught dead driving around in a Bruin colored car. (SoCaL inside joke – I’m a Trojan)

Sissy color? Yea, someone is going to see me in that car (if I were lucky enough to win the chance to purchase it) and think I'm a sissy. Actually, I probalby wouldn't even care....

Any hootz, I guess some of us like the color, and others don't...

It's a SoCal thing, like I said. The UCLA Bruins' colors are (Sissy) Powder Blue & Gold, while the two-time defending National Champion USC Trojans' colors are (Regal) Cardinal & Gold.

Just curious guys, what would you pick for an interior color to go with the Azzuro?

I guess I'm leaning towards black.

My ’06 is due to arrive within the next two weeks. If I get a chance to order a Club Coupe before I take delivery, I will do so.

Raised in Mission Viejo for 19 years, my dad did attend UCLA... Always had to back them vice "USC" who had the same colors as my high school football team, this might explain some other issues I have...
