That citrus, orange stuff really works and doesn't harm any finish.

A little gas would whip that off in a second.

"Goo Gone" from Home Depot works well on most weird stuff. Great to keep around the house and garage.

Lighter fluid (zippo, etc.) will work
or 3m adhesive remover

WD40 works great, it doesn't desolve the adhesive instead it makes it not sticky, very safe.

Use solvents in this order:

alcohol, liquid parafin

kerosene (lighter fluid), Goo Gone

Toulene, acetone, MEK (Goof-off, nail polish remover)

Alcohol may be slow but safest.

Acetone (and the others in it's class) is quick but very aggresive. Can cause immediate and/or unseen but cumulative damage

WD 40 states that one of its uses is for adhesive removal...its also paintwork safe. It'll work perfectly.
Otherwise 3M adhesive remover....does what it says

I third it. Goo Gone stuff is good stuff. I betcha it's just lighterfluid.

DO NOT confuse it with "Goof Off" which is a cocktail every retail aggressive solvent in the book. (toulene, acetone, MEK...?). Also very good stuff but be very careful using on your car (it "melts" plastic).

you may want to get yourself some of the 3M general adhesive remover or i suppose you could continue to use the wd40... just i would highly advise you to (after you use the "remover") quickly flush the area with some soapy water then rinse.

Don't use Acetone unless you really want it to strip paint and clear coat, melt plastic, or eat your skin.
