Default Checking oil level.

Does your display check oil every time you fill up? Mine had done it twice in 6,000 miles.

Have not seen a "Check Oil" display at all yet, about 4500 miles.

I've not seen that either. I do check the bar graph that comes up every time you turn the key to check the oil level, is that what you are talking about?

1. Ignition is switched off.
2. If the engine is at operating temperature, at least 5 minutes must elapse between parking
the vehicle and starting the engine.
3. Refuelling completed within 15 minutes.
When the ignition is switched on, the engine oil level is shown on the segment display.

Yes it does work if the above preconditions are met, upon restarting the oil level is displayed and remains for a bit... take some time and hang out next time you re-fuel

Thanks, I did have a problem at the pump and had to go inside and that is why I saw the oil level last time I added fuel.

I have an 05 911S and I always check the oil display bar before I start the car. It gives you a true reading immediately and you don't have to sit there and wait the 5 minutes it takes to check it when the engine is at operating temp.

Here's an issue I've had that i don't understand yet. My car has only 500 miles on it, and the other day at a traffic light I stalled the car. I hit the starter and nothing happened. The people behind me were getting a bit pissed....so I turned the key all the way to the left and then back to the right and it started. What's up with that?

That is how it is done. I am sure it has to do with the electronics. Must follow same start-up sequence.

Isn't that the case with every car these days, that you need to turn the key all the way back? You basically reset all the settings for start-up.

Isn't this so that you don't grind the starter pinion gear against the flywheel in the event the engine is still running but you think it quit and are trying to restart it?

No, not in any car I've owned before. In this instance, the starter would not engage until I turned the key all the way to the left first. It is normally in a "neutral" position after starting. I had to turn it from it's "neutral" position to the left....back to the middle and then to the right before it would start.

It is a little embarrassing because it seems to take for ever to do...... They do seem to stall on occasion if you load it up a little to early.
