Talking NAV-TV for the 997 is almost here!!!!

I have great news! Nav-TV (turns the OEM Nav Screen into a full blown color TV tuner - I have it installed in my M5) cracked the MOST interface and soon this device will be marketed for all Porsche MOST systems - including the 997.

Check out: http://www.nav-tv.com/index02.htm

I called them and they told me there are a few bugs so they need a few more weeks - not months or years - weeks!!!! They have the prototype done for the Cayenne and I asked if it will work in the 997 and they said it will once they hammer out the quirks it will work.

How sick is that? Let me tell you - NAV-TV is by far the best non-performance mod I ever installed in a car. Just watch the game while your wife shops. And, it is completely stealth!!!!

The "black box" (it's actually silver) plus misc. parts was about $1,100.00. I installed it myself using the instructions provided by the Nav-TV folks so I saved on whatever the labor costs would have been (pretty easy install - took about 5 hours). I have no idea what the install difficulty would be for a 997 - yet.

On the M5, the system uses the rear window defogger as the antenna for the TV. The misc. parts include antenna amplifiers. I have no idea how this would work on the 997 - yet.

I am just excited that apparently they cracked the MOST system and it hopefully will all be worked out when my 997 gets here in September

It would be nice to have DVD playback capbility for show and kids in backseats... Not really something that I would fork out the money for but it's not to know MOST hack is in effect so more aftermarket equipment can be integrated.

I agree that a Porsche is made to drive and a couch is made to watch TV. But.... trust me, its pretty slick to be sitting in bumber to bumber traffic and catch the 6:00 news.

I support the American ideal of "to each their own" but I couldn't think of an aftermarket option I would want less than a TV... for me a TV in the car would be right up there with an overweight female highway patrol officer in the passenger seat every where I go.

Since they've cracked the MOST code....give us something really useful, like an Ipod connection...

Sofa front seat, I didn't know about that option? We already have electric recliners with head rest as option. Is the sofa a new option for the 2006 model?

What???.... You gotta be kiddin' right? ... I hope that's never available, no matter how hard those hack nuts work to make it so..... To me, a mobile TV is something I would expect to see in a motor home, a limo, or in some pimp mobile with rap music blaring while the TV's on to impress the bling-bling dolts..... But in a 911??? ..... That's outright sacrilegious!

And anybody caught with one in their 911 should have their car confiscated and reprimanded for not being worthy of owning a 911. That's just my opinion of course.

I say that anyone that puts TV into there car should be forced to put one of these on their roof. Dead center of course:

If you angle it correctly it's been known to give 2-4 pounds of downforce.
