Default Untypical Exterior Colors

Just for kicks, thought I'd ask around for pics of these exterior colors from the
997 brochure:

1. Carmon Red Metallic (anyone in North America have this?)
2. Forest Green Metallic
3. Dark Olive Metallic
4. Midnight Blue Metallic

Also does anyone have the Dark wood (Macassar) option or
the Light wood (Sycamore) option? How do you like it? I wonder if the wood will wear and look bad later.

I have the full leather option, but my center console is black plastic, I wonder
how the wood in the center console would look with the leather elsewhere.

I should have asked this question Before I got my car, I need a beer.

thats Atypical

an excellent website for your search is http://www.whiteson.org/boxster/gallery

you can search all sorts of porsche color combos with different options (pictures).

you will actually find that many of these colors are on a cyclical rotation for being 'typical' in different porsche gernerations.

porsche will bring back some colours and then take them away for awhile.

A client of mine has a Carmon Red C2S cab arriving late this month, natural brown leather, with black top. There should be pictures available when the car arrives. Beautiful combination.

Okay so the trade-in value of silver or black is higher because they're easier for the dealer to sell quickly. But what owner has so much cash and so little time that they can't sell it themselves and recover a much higher percentage of their puchase price?

If I owned a 911 in a color other than silver or black (actually, regardless of the color I owned), I'd advertize it myself and wait for a buyer who enjoyed the atypical color as much as do. It's not a big deal.

Silver is fine. But it is so commonplace -and- it doesn't best accentuate the 997's design, in my opinion.

The paint to sample option is always available. You bring in your gym shorts from 7th grade and have them paint the car that color.

I'm happy with my color, Seal Grey Metallic, I thought long and hard about it. I used to think the "correct" color was Red, the dealer talked me out of it. Many of are the opinion that Ferrari's are the cars to be Red. I didn't get Silver because I saw so many Mercedes and other silver cars that I got sick of it. It was down to Lapis Blue, Cobalt Blue and Seal Grey. I could have gone with Lapis Blue and would have been equally as happy.

The Seal Grey looked sooooo good in the show room, it still looks good, and it's not Silver. Silver certainly is not a bad color by any means!

It is interesting to see the other car colors in person, and to see how it looks then, the little color squares are too small to make a solid decision. Of all the non-metallic colors, I think Red looks pretty good, with the Sand Beige leather.

Mine has the full black leather package, I love the black leather. In time I might get the center console in black leather or dark wood. Carbon fiber is cool but I have seen enough of it and won't ever get it. I like carbon fiber on my road bike (bicycle) for weight concerns, and for looks.

You should buy the car you want to drive not the one you want to trade in.

Steve,
I feel the same way about the center console...I have sand beige full leather, and I wish i'd got the center console in leather....The cockpit looks very high quality now, and having the leather center would just finish it off

Steve775 - I took my '04 996 to Hendrick Porsche in Charlotte, NC last week for some minor warranty work. They had a 997 in Carmon Red Metallic on the show room floor (don't recall the interior color). It looked very rich. The salesman said it looked even better in the sunlight. I like the Midnight Blue the best, but I would definitely consider the Carmon Red, especially with the Sand Beige Leather.

I bought artic silver because that's the colour I love most.

I toyed with white and the metallic grey, as my other car is already silver; but when I went to the 997 launch, I saw a silver one, and that was that.

Totally agree with the comments regarding choosing a colour based on resale. Sod that, get the colour you want.

Carmon red metallic is a beautiful shade! It reminds me of the old Velvet Red Metallic. I saw it on a Cayenne, havent seen it on a 997 yet, but just like Arena Red, dark reds, burgandys, etc... really look good on the 911.
