Default Name your car?

is it gay (not that there is anything wrong with that!) to name your car? Never thought of naming one before this, my first Porsche and I'm in love. Thinking of "Penelope"....or the name of someone with a great ***, just like my 997. Gay? Name ideas?

actually, without intending this as any kind of criticism, 'Penelope' must be the single most common name for a Porsche. How about Pete, or maybe Polydectes or possibly Poseidon? The thing is, i don't think its 'gay' to name your car and I think plenty of people do. The problem (or the waste) of doing so is that even the most anally-retentive enthusiasts I have met don't actually refer to their car as Steve or Frank or whatever in conversation for example, it is actually only a name in their heads....so its a waste of time and possibly a sign that someone is (becoming) insane. I don't name my car but I know that I am Lucifer inside my own head...I am invincible...hoohahhahhahahahahahahahhh.......doh! Leave names for something that is expected to answer....like a person or a pet. Or be incarcerated eventually.

It's gotta be something wry or sarcastic to avoid the gay thing (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Stuff like

Das Porsche (viz, "Das Boot")

or Sprokets

or V2

or Ultra VW

or The Panty Remover

Christ, it's more than normal, it's IMPORTANT for normalcy. Among others... fighter aircraft, fast boats, cannons, and swords are named; not to forget every electric guitar that ever cast a spell on a great player. My last ride was Vale, after Valeria Mazza, who struck me as pure, easy-going, uncomplicated horsepower. I'm still trying to nail down the personality of my 997 C2S. So far I know this... she's not easy, she's magna *** laude smart, has really good genes and she commands respect or she'll cut you. Hmmmm, that's it! My 997 C2S is Kate Beckinsale.

I've just named my Carrera S... Katie. Now I'll ride her.

I just call mine by the code number. The 993 and the 997. In the future I'd like to refer to them as the 993 and the Turbo!

I think anything other than 911 or porsche related name will do no justice, any other name will just make it less special, as "porsche" is the ultimate, so rather than naming it, it should be an adjective, like "beast". Wayne Gretzky cannot be described by any other name, he is "the Great one", any name will just lessen his greatness, as he is the pinnacle of hockey, porsche is the pinnacle of motoring greatness, there is no substitute.

After he and Mario tried to negotiate the NHL contract and failed he goes by just "Wayne" or "the Wayner" now
