now its without...but I just called Fabspeed and they said to put it in for more hp...

I'm just lurking here. I'm waiting a few months to order a 997S cab. If history repeats itself, I don't want to have any part of 1st year problems with the new 997 design. The '99 996 was a nightmare. Be careful with the cold air intakes. I purchased the evo unit for my '01 996 and it caused all kinds of backfiring etc. The computer could not adjust to the increased airflow for some reason. Also, I believe there were a few people with problems due to excess oil in the new filters causing problems/replacement of the MAF. I have the Fabspeed 996 exhaust and it is probably one of the best sounding exhausts out there. Not to mention you save something like 50 lbs by replacing the factory exhaust. Good quality product and the best part is that there was no resonance.

OK. Other than PERHAPS decreasing turbulent flow significantly it appears the only thing this does is remove the Y path to a muffled portion of the airbox (which closes off by design with a valve under high rev). Experiment in mind: Create an airtight seal along the small Y path or find a method to have the valve remain closed -- Hypothesis: Similar results from this $200+ hose... In fact that combined with a $70 High Flow K&N filter ought to achieve the results of the $600 PowerFlow Kit...

Thoughts?

Snake Oil. As others have said. Do you honestly think that Porsche would leave such easy pickings behind? First off, every 997 is equipped with a cold air intake. I only wish I had come up with the idea. More novice Porsche buyers tear off perfectly good (and optimized) equipment on their 911s only to put inferior equipment back on. You will actually gain more HP if you make sure you're putting sufficient octane in your tanks.

Somebody with engineering credentials posted at length on this subject and basically concluded that under the best of circumstances this kit may be good for 1/3 hp and that the same result can be achieved with supplies from Home Depot totalling about 10 bucks.

This one should be easy. Almost 50% of the power increase of Porsche's $17,000 X51 kit for $225.......
