I have a chance to buy a new 997 S Silver in color that list $89,000 for $79,950 plus tax (roughly 10%). I see alot of these cars sitting and I am curious if there is any quality problems due to re-design? Thanks in advance!

 

I think that is a great price, and if you are interested in the car, you should jump on it. Others have noted that some cars (most notably the Launch Editions) have had grounding problems that have resulted in "System Fault" notices, but on the whole, most of the new owners are thoroughly enjoying their cars.

I'd be curious to know if you can point me to any leads on some pre-owned 997 C2S' as I'm keeping an eye out for some "value buys." :-)

Looking for a used 997? I looked at a 997s in Black at Tischer Porsche in Silver Spring MD. Had 600 miles on it, originally sold by Don Rosen Imports. They say some rich guy didn't like his new toy and they bought it. They weere asking $82,000 (sticker new was roughly $87k) about a week ago. It would seem to me after doing some research on the boards that you'd get answers to your question there. I'm not sure where you are located and where you are seeing these cars sitting unsold either?(there is no information in your profile) But, with that kind of discount you either want the car or not. So, me thinks that there is a little trolling going on here........... Now, if this is legit and you want the car what are you waiting for?

That is pretty close to dealer "Invoice Price", where is it you see all these cars "sitting" and what dealer is offering a deal like that???

Well there have been a few threads over on 6speed about dlr inventories out east, Denver, midwest......fairly signif discounting (for what it's worth, not sure what you can believe)......no doubt, where-ever they are selling, like FL, the price would be up.

 

I've heard of a few plain 997's being discounted, not the S. Sounds fishy to me.
