I get the feeling that since he had just taken delivery of a 997S, and the tone of his column, it's less likely to be about selling copy and more about a degree of buyer's remorse. I agree that a 997S with PCCB's would probably be the better car.
My order still stands for a 997S with standard steel brakes - the cost of PCCB's and their replacement seems excessive to me.

besides the initial $8,150. cost for ceramic brake option at the outset,
are the PCCB's service life shorter and what additional cost is incurred at each brake service interval (over and above
conventional steel brake renewal)?

Is this car for track or for everyday? I imagine either would suit just fine unless you have the time and/or opportunity to drive it 9/10's. Just an opinion. Save your bucks on the brakes and put it towards new tires.
