Umm, the neo appears to be unavailable for the 2005 (997) 911. Actually I think I want the www.phatnoise.com to be hooked up with text (it is not available either).

Default The Belkin iCarPlay ...

If you're using the iCarPlay disregard this message -

I'm using the iCarPlay in both the Cayenne and the Carrera S. Because it is powered off the cars 12v system the transmission is 100% stronger than the battery powered POS that I smashed with a hammer in frustration... though even the iCarPlay is not as good as a direct AUX plug in or an FM Modulator input box. This iCar stores 3 stations on push buttons that makes moving to a stronger station easier. I just match them with the first 3 stations on the radio button memory. Though it is still not flawless.

If it were easier to get behind the radio to the antenna plug I'd install an FM modulator on the antenna line. That is a flawless sound option and available at Crutchfield, et al.

alot of manufacturers are way behind in providing an easily accessible aux input to their head units.

porsche had aux-in on their 2002 cars, but with MY2003, they took a step back, and made it HARDER/impossible to integrate aftermarket devices (except using FM)

I just ordered teh NeoIon kit for my daily driver, but then I saw theMonster Cable Icruze set for release the first week of January 2005. Same connection method as the NeoIon, but hopefully they will have a kit for the Porsche.

I was at SEMA in November and I talked with a rep from a company who said that they would have an Ipod hookup to the BOSE fiber optic audio system within 6 months or so. When i get home I'll post teh company info. I want one too.

I'm not sure exactly how this works in 997s specifically but I can tell you how I did it in my M3. It is possible to create your own aux input by using the cd changer input in the stock sterio. Search the internet for a "CD changer to RCA" specific to the brand of radio in your Porsche. Basically, you are looking for a cord that connects on one end to your CD changer input and has female RCA inputs on the other end. This cord has a small box that 'tricks' your sterio into thinking the item pluged into it is a CD changer. You will then need another cord with male RCA inputs to an 1/8th inch pin (this is your standard headphone jack on your ipod).

Switch your sterio to CD changer mode and the ipod should come through with much better quality than any FM modulator. The downside is you loose your CD changer but who needs one when you have 1000s of songs on the ipod?

I will take a look at my 996 tomorrow and see if I can find the part that works for it and post it here.
