100k for an NA car?

Porsche gets that and more for the GT3. But then, it's a GT3.

I like what I've seen of the 997, but everyone seems to agree it's more of an "evolution" rather than a "revolution."

The average person on the street can't tell the difference between the 996 and 997, especially if they can't see the headlights. The new headlights are nice, but I'm not sure people will rush to fork over $100k for 'em.

Hey Surgeon I see you here and on another board saying this . I think these cars are moving just fine . What I do not see is dealers discounting the cars as much becuase they have so many orders and at most only a few cars on the lot . If anything I see more 996's and 996 variation on the lots not moving than 997's . Where are you getting the word that dealers are not able to move these cars . It is the 996 that is not moving and to move those now it is going to take big big discounts . The 997 is the car the 996 should have been a long time ago when they were busy with the Cayenne .

The 997's that I have seen in dealer's showrooms here in Canada are all Carrera "S" models that have MSRP's of around $140-150K CAD.........PCCB, active sport seats and that sort of nonsense. They have lots of orders....but for cars spec'd in the $120-130K range.....and as previously mentioned....when you are spending that much jack....you want it to be your way.

Whoah cowboy!
I drive by my dealer every day on the way to work, the same 997/997S are always sitting there. This is purely an observation on my part, There are probably a few 996's as well, though not the higher end 996's in my casual observations. I don't dislike 997's, I just don't think it's that great of an improvement over a 996, that's all. If you like 997's, go buy one, I'm sure you'll be very happy.

Sean,NA doesn't apply to GT3's they are killer aspirated!

They can pick up "extra" cars from a general pool in addition to customer ordered cars. Either that or folks that have changed or cancelled orders. Dealer in Austin says lots of deposits for people waiting on cabs. Oh yeah, NO discounts either.

Default It is strange

I have been shopping for a 997 using Porsche's inventory search available on the web. It is strange that some dealers have quite a number in inventory while others have zip. There seem to be very few 997S' in inventory (around Texas anyway). I have been offered discounts by two of the three dealers I spoke with and only a token discount of $500 by the third.

My general impression is that the 997S is selling briskly, but the 997 seems to less loved.

Jim Ellis in Atlanta is saying April/May delivery for a new S. They seem to have two Black/Black launch S cars in inventory (MSRP $99.2K) and about 4 or 5 non-S.

The standard "launch" cars included ceramic brakess, an $8,150 option, full leather, adaptive sport seats, self dimming mirrors, heated front seats, sport chrono package, Nav, and Bose, total with destination charge $99,300 - so about 91K without the brakes. But, now you get floor mats included for free!!!

There is a smaller dealer here and there is no S to purchase until Feb or so. Seems like production/distribution is being controlled versus a glut strategy. -Pete
