For those who don't wish to register here are a couple of the pics...

So nice to see something other than Silver, Grey or Black.
Would I spend spend the additional $3070, it is very tempting, but no

Ooops. Forgot you had to register to view. Thanks MJones.

After all my gyrations on coblat blue...which I love...I just fell in love with GT silver after seeing MrBonus's GT silver 997S...which I ordered. But, gee whiz, that coblat blue is certainly striking...

MJones,
I'm taking delivery of my Cobalt Blue 997S on Thursday 11/11/04. I love the color. I sort of promised my wife I wouldn't get another Porsche for a long time so she let me order a new one from the factory with the options I wanted. I got NAV, Sport Chrono, Adaptive Sport Seats, Bose, Self Dimming Mirrors and the Rear Wiper (always loved the wiper on European cars). I went from two street cars 964 and 993 to a race car (towed with a Cayenne) and found it was way too much work. I decided to race what I drove to the track so I sold the race car and Cayenne and ended up with the 997S. I still haven't driven one yet (although I've sat in one and fired it up) but I'm sure it will be terrific. I see there is already an air intake kit from Fabspeed as well as headers. Prices don't seem unreasonable but for now 355 HP should be enough. Can't wait until Thursday.

I'd definitely pay extra for cobalt blue. $3k is a lot, but not on an $80k car. One of the best colors in current production!

I've been considering cobalt blue for a long time but had second thoughts when people (mostly girls) commentated that it looks a little feminine

I have a 328ci year 2000 with Topaz Blue exterior. It looks very similar to Cobalt Blue. I think the color goes well on an angular shaped aggressive coupe like the 3-series, but on the Porsche it looks kind of cartoonish, sort of like a blue matchbox car I had when I was a kid. Carrera's are curvy and elegant, dare I say a bit feminie? I think Porsches, especially Carrera's need an aggressive color that stands out like Red, Yellow, Silver, or White.

Or maybe I'm just sick and tired of blue cars because most of my previous cars were some shade of blue.

Choosing color has always been the hardest decision for me when buying a car. But in the end its always what you like the best and what makes you happy.

I like Blue as well. I've had a Midnight Blue and a Guards Red 911. Black is hard to clean and there are a million gray Porsche's. I wanted something unique. You won't see many on the road. The dealer I bought it from only orders gray and black. There was one other guy who ordered Midnight Blue. What I really wanted was Iris Blue. It was almost purple in the right light. Really a cool color. Porsche originally told me they would not do custom colors (even though it was a old stock color) but now I see you can get it for 4K. I already paid 3K for the Cobalt Blue another grand for the one I really wanted wouldn't have been a problem. Oh well. This will give me an excuse to tell my wife that "I really didn't get the exact car I wanted." I'm good for another one in 3-4 years.

the problem with uber-special orders is that sometimes the dealer will make you sign a non-refundable deposit clause, therefore negative the usual state law that prevents this sort of thing

they ARE allowed to do the non-refundable thing if you sign something specifically stating so.

but they usually only do that when you order a totally custom color or something, which is why doing that becomes a pain in the ***
