Default my dealer claims that there will be no 997 turbo and no 997 c4 either!

he says that the engine compartment is not big enough for a 3.8l engine and awd and/or a turbocharger

does anyone here believe this?

it sounds like b.s. to me.

Not to worry ignacio, three things:

- AWD "in" the engine compartment?

- no place to fit the Turbo on the 3.8? who said it will be a 3.8? surely he doesn't say that because he thinks it will derive from the non dry sump, non-turbocharging-tolerance designed M97 3.8l 997 CarreraS engine?

- and if it gets a 3.8l of the M96.70 996TT engine (not like it needs increased displacement like the N/A versions since its turbocharged, to attain higher HP), guess why the Turbo gets a "widebody" for...

I tell ya, we should make a "my dealer said..." list

I hate to say this, but 95% of the dealers that i have spoken with know absolutely nothing about the cars... Considering I have a very bad case of the Porsche bug, I go out of my way to visit the local dealerships on business trips and even vacations - so my sample size is quite large! Let me also state that Alfie (Ira Porsche outside Boston, and a Rennlist contributor) is a great/sharp guy - so don't take offense Alfie - you are an insider who is part of the club!!!

Obviously you can't generalise, my own dealer is an ex-rally spanish champion and competed at the wheel of Porsches back in the day and he knows his stuff. But there are others who don't, and its their job to do so, which is maybe why it bothers us so much.

Default My dealer gave me a schedule

Said the 997 cab should be out this spring, the C4S next fall, and the turbo either in the fall of 05 as an 06 model or soon thereafter. I didn't ask about the 997 GT3.

Quick Reply: my dealer claims that there will be no 997 turbo and no 997 c4 either!
