Who would drive one in the snow? Seems like a lot of money to push around on slick roads to me.........

Well, I have to say that plowing around in my E39 M5 was a blast on winter rubber. Plus, don't those 997 videos on the Porsche website during winter testing stir the blood...even a little?

Just curious, why don't you get the 996 c4s or wait for the 997 c4s? Or better yet the turbo, all turbo incarnations are 4wd IIRC.

But then if you can not wait, the 997S is your only choice.

to the 997S.

Although 4 wheel drive does help tremendously, it is the tires that provide the traction required in slick situations. If you have summer high performance tires on even with 4 wheel drive, if none od the tires have grip, you will go nowhere. Even my Cayenne TT needs winter rubber to fully take advantage of its 4 wheel drive. If I tried to drive my C-TT with its 20" sport technos and Michelin Diamaris tires in 4" of snow and ice I would be slipping everywhere.

Anyone actually find and purchase snow tires for there 997S?

Half the people in California have 4 wheel drive SUVs and still can't drive in the rain!

I totally agree! I loved plowing around in my M5 and my C-TT! Alas, I currently have neither!

Maybe I should defer my Euro Delivery idea and just order the d*mn 997S and try to find some winter tires and rims!

Unfortuately a call to the Tire Rack confirmed that they will not have any winter tires for the 997S this season. Bummer...I think the Porsche dealerships will be outrageously expensive.
