I thought to shove a bore scope into cylinder 6 on my .1 3.6 with 138k miles. No issues with scoring or anything like that, but what does
the 35k miles plug in the cylinder tell you? Lean mixture or normal?
Plug looks good to me with minimal but even electrode wear. The light tan deposits on the plug are what you want to see.
Seems like you've got a very healthy motor at 138K miles. Just my two cents, but I'm sure others will chime in.
Pretty good looking for a healthy motor (assuming the other plugs all look like that). Do consider changing the plugs at 30K miles ... no matter what the book says.
Just curious.....how did you go about pulling them?
Did you wriggle & squirm or did you pull stuff off to get at them?
TIA
It’s reasonably straightforward - remove the rear wheel, heat shield, coil pack and use an extended spark plug removal tool. Done. There's not much space there though, so I imagine 5 and 4 spark plugs could be a bit fiddly. I'm not sure whether it would be easier on ramps, bumper removal - regardless, it is quite an involved job.
And I didn't pay attention I was looking at @Graufuchs pics and thought you had pulled all 6 plugs but you just pulled #6.
I've seen the videos of trying to pull all without pulling the whole rear of the car apart and it looks like a party for sure!
Sorry for the confusion....I pull the mufflers, rear bumper and heat shielding (sides) from the rear of the car to do coil packs and plugs. (996 and 997s)
It also gives you a better idea of overall condition of components and the ability to wipe down and clean up areas.
Not looking to become a contortionist at 45yrs old, I get hurt laying down to go to sleep now.
I pulled the bumper and exhaust to do spark plugs, ignition coils, and bores coping now. The time it takes is the same and the aggravation is 10 times less.

This looks totally fine and what it should look like.
