Default exterior and interior colors

I'd be interested in the sage advice from this forum on colors for the 997 I have a deposit on (but no build slot yet). My selection originally was GT Silver exterior, and Stone Grey interior.

Recently, I saw a photo of an Arctic Silver exterior with Sea Blue interior, that I thought looked great, and is about 2K cheaper. Since I look at this car as a long term proposition, and I'm shooting in the dark a bit since I haven't seen either of these combinations in the flesh, I'd like your thoughts.

Thanks!

GT Silver and Stone Grey sounds great! AS is very common and Sea Blue might get monotonous in the long run. A Sea Blue interior may not be very neutral when it comes to resale even though this may not be high on your priority. Slate Grey exterior is also very nice.

I fantasize about getting Ferrari red paint-to-match on a 997s or turbo one day. Any comments on that?

I would love to see the same combination that was available with the 993... Vesuvious with seal grey spoiler, handles, mirrors... and the grey interior with a violet tint (can't remember what it was called) in combination with black.... ...yes, I miss my old 993 C2S... and hope to see a 997 GT3 that I can order in this color combination.

Other colors that I like are Polar Silver, Dark Blue (can't remember the color name from Porsche), and Seal Grey.

I have always been a great fan of silver on blue. Artic silver looks good with it, but Polar Silver looks even better.......it has a blue tint to it.

The silver on grey would look good, but to me it would be a little boring, and pretty common. It's just my opinion but I like a little contrast between the interior and exterior.......and Porsche offers so many ways of setting one car apart from another I would take advantage of it.

One of the best ways Porsche has to make an interior look very different from the next is to deviate the carpet color........

Polar/Artic silver/sea blue/stone grey carpet
Midnight blue / stone grey / sea blue carpet
Black / sand beige / black carpet
Black / terracotta / black carpet
Dark Teal / stone grey / black carpet

Lots of nice combinations you can put together.....

Here's a decent link for the present model Boxster, here you can
put together all sorts of color combos and see them in a picture.
Hasn't been updated with the new Porsche colors, but at least may
give an idea for an original look.

Strange. Go the "Sea Blue & Palm Green???" thread on this forum and the link works on the post from MikeN and look at the 11th post. the same link is there and it works fine.

Is paint-to-sample available on the 997?

I'm thinking of ordering one painted some vintage color that's out of current production.

If you go to Porsches German site the 997 configurator is up, and yes I can see both metallic and non-metallic paint to sample being available.....but not until
10/2004.......or at least that's what it says.

Thanks for the tip. The car configurator is cool. Plus, I finally saw a 19" wheel I like! This one reminds me of the 996 Lightweight Carrera wheel. Color here is cobalt blue.

Anyone see the latest 997 review in Car & Driver? The one they show is a nice blue color, but doesn't seem to match what is available. Looks too light to be midnight blue, and too dark to be lapis. Looks more like the non-metallic "Deep Sea Blue" that is available on the Cayenne. Anyone care to guess or know what color it is?
