Please help! Radio Code for Battery Replacement
I am facing a problem when trying to replace the dead battery on my 2005 Porsche 997.1. My local dealership informed me that I would need a radio code after physically disconnecting the battery. However, I found conflicting information online.
Some people have said that the 997 series does not require a radio code, specifically mentioning that the PCM2.1 does not need a radio code, while the 996 or CD-2 radio systems do. Here are some comments found on Internet:
"I was also told that with the 997 series Porsche had done away with the radio codes."
"There are no radio codes for 997's. I would suggest driving the car (even if the PSM & other warning lights are on) as they will go away as mentioned above."
On the other hand, Ive seen comments from others stating that they had to input the radio code after replacing the battery on their 997:
"I'm getting ready to replace my steering wheel and see there is mention about re-indexing the windows upon reconnecting the battery, but see nothing about a radio code. Nothing mentioned in my manual either. It's a 2013 991.1. I remember in my older 996's and 997's having to enter a code when reconnecting the battery."
This conflicting information is quite confusing. Can anyone advise if my 997.1 radio system requires a radio passcode after battery replacement? My radio system looks exactly like the one in the image below.
Thank you very much for your help!
