Default 997 C2S Oil Pressure Issue

I have a 2006 997 C2S with 76k miles. I’ve had the car since 2016 and have encountered minimal issues.
I regularly take the car to local auto x events. I don’t drive it a ton, mostly weekends, Fridays, and nice days.
I was out in the car over the weekend and had some odd issues occur.
The ambient temp was ~100 degrees. I had the ac on max in stop and go traffic for around an hour.
I noticed the temp started running high along with oil temp and oil pressure was peaked out over 5.
I’ve never seen anything run high before. Oil pressure usually drops low when idling.
I got an alarm on the car while stopped for low oil pressure so I parked the car and shut it down.
After turning off the car, I turned it back on and oil pressure was peaked again. There should be no pressure with the car off.
It seems to run fine but the gauges are higher than I’ve ever seen.
I took the car out again and see oil pressure high again and shut it down and again with pressure indicating around 4 with the engine off.

anyone encounter such issues?
any input or suggestions welcome.

thanks in advance!

You’re saying both the coolant AND the oil temps were high?

Different car, but I recently did have the oil temp on my M5 suddenly and rapidly go to the max (300 degrees I think) and stay there. Turned out it was a bad sensor.

One of the things that helped me accurately diagnose it was the fact that the coolant temp stayed normal. If the oil temp was in fact crazy hot, it should drive up the coolant temp as well.

If I had aberrant readings from my coolant, oil temp, and oil pressure gauges all at once I’d flatbed it to a shop. I can’t imagine that is somehow a sensor failure.

That’s right along with oil pressure. When I shut the car down and turn it back on with the motor off, oil pressure is high as if the car’s running.
I wasn’t paying much attention to the gauges until I got the low pressure alarm.
Last time I drove the car was almost a month ago at a autox event.
I had no issues. The ambient temp was in the high 70s.

Your oil pressure sender has failed so you really don't know what your oil pressure is or was. Gaude should read zero with key on and engine not running. You need a rather and crowsfoot wrench to change it.

Here is a DIY guide to replacing the oil pressure sensor. I just did mine recently. Took me a little longer than 15minutes. Take your time and be patient.

Thanks for the input. I’ll give that a shot!
