Hi there.

I'm checking this great buyer's guide and it's helping a lot.
I'm about to buy a 2005 997.1 Carrera S and I'm in doubt about the IMS issue. The first registration happened on October 2005, but I'm not really sure of the production month.
Just in case, I asked the guy who is doing the PPI to send me the engine number, he sent me this:




Not the clearest photo, but it seems to be M97/0168605416.

According to the guide:
Well... my engine number is not any of those
Any ideas on how can I find if this has the small bearing or the big one without opening it?

It's below/above those two serial numbers. Hence your car should have the 2006 model year engine with the large single -row bearing.

Ahhh... that actually makes sense.
So I guess I can save 2.5k for replacing the IMS
