Default Regular Maintenance Items

Hi all, I downloaded a sample maintenance tracker and have been using this the last couple of years. Over time, I've added a couple items to it. Do you see anything missing from "regular maintenance" items that I should be tracking?

Water pump replacement every five years is really overkill. I'd replace the coolant every five years and not touch the water pump in the absence of any noise or leakage.

Cabin air filter is worth doing on a schedule. I test the battery at 5 years and replace at least by 7. Based on past experience I've got the gasket for the coolant fill cap on my 987.2 on a 5-year schedule but I don't know if the 997.1 has the same part.

Where'd you download this tracker from?

Would also be interested in which tracker you’re using

Sent me looking at apps, of which there are too many with roughly 4.5 star reviews

Would love to know of a good one, vouched for by members.

A ton of stuff is missing.

Water pump should be replaced every 60,000 miles. Coolant is automatically changed at this time.
Thermostat also every 60k miles
Serpentine belt WITH all idle bearings replaced 60,000 miles
AOS replaced 60,000 miles
Gear box oil changed every 30,000 miles (Tipt too)
Spark plugs, air filter, cabin filter, 30,000 miles
Oil changed every 5,000 miles
No mention of the IMS bearing ? Or borescope inspection ?
Brake fluid every 2 years.
Replace your coolant tank at 100,000 miles or whenever the engine is out and it's past 60,000 miles. (when engine is out, the coolant tank costs $200; with engine in, the coolant tank costs $200 plus 8 hours of labor)

That is my suggested maintenance. Waiting for things to break then replace them is reactive, not proactive maintenance for a trouble free ownership experience.

THere is no need to debate, your mileage may differ.

2009 C2S 199k miles

Please note: these aggressive maintenance recommendations are for .1 cars, 2008 and prior.

.2 cars are a very different machine and Porsche really upped the quality of its parts. So in my opinion, if you have a .2 car, just follow your owner manual with the following two exceptions: 1) change your oil every 5k miles, and 2) change your manual transmission fluid ever 30 to 40k miles.

Then maybe coolant and power steering fluid at 100k. And if you want to be very conservative, change your ignition coils at 120k miles when you do the spark plugs.

Everything else fails (for me at least) gracefully and won't leave you stranded.

Peace
Bruce in Philly (now Atlanta)

And for reference, the PCNA service schedule for the .2 cars…

I'm honestly not sure; I think I got it from here a couple years ago though at this point I've customized so much it's basically just mine. If you can remind me, I'll try to sanitize it and upload it here after making some additions based on this feedback. This is for a .1 for you guys talking about the .2.

Great tips. Some of these things I am adding into my "regular maintenance" cadence and some of them (like the coolant expansion tank) I think fall under "while you're in there" stuff and so I wouldn't necessarily be tracking those. Some are one or two-and-done over the life of the car, and for me personally have already been done.

I went through this list and marked green things that I am going to add, yellow were already accounted for in the list, and red I am considering "as needed" or so infrequent as to not need to include in a running tally of things to keep track of. This isn't my only tracker; it's just the tracker for regular or semi-regular things that need to be done.

Appreciate it nevertheless, could build my own tracker based on this and the additional comments on here too. Good stuff!

Hm, it doesn't seem like I can upload an Excel file here - I have put a cleaned version out here for now: https://file.io/CePBJfS3K3yT

You'll have to play around a little bit with some of the calculations since when I deleted some of my info I think some dependencies may have broken but this should mostly work!

Well, I guess it did attach but it wasn't obvious when I was posting. I'm going to remove the file.io link so don't use that; both of the attached files above are the same

No, good call, it's worth calling that out separately. For me, if I were replacing a belt, I'd at least inspect the pulleys at the same time so for my personal tracking I didn't include that.
