the upper hose on my break booster vacuum line has done the split thing, splitting over the lower barbed nipple to which it attaches and making the brakes stiff. tape has fixed it, and i can order the entire 99711005503 part and install it, but is there any reason i shouldn't find a similar hose for the upper section only? anyone with experience on this?

I tried a couple different hoses. You need one that is reinforced because the vacuum will collapse it, if its not. Im using a high pressure fuel line hose thats the correct size right now but want to try a silicone hose. Something like this cuz it has the 90degree bend in it

This is a rubber reinforced 15/32" brake booster hose that's reinforced and won't collapse used on 928s. Ordering part # 999-181-022-51 will get you 2'-3' of it. Silicone is usually very weak and also not resistant to oil or gasoline.

After reading the post above, you could probably go to autozone and find a generic brake booster hose that would work. Google had a bunch of hits on “1/2” brake booster hose”.
