Default Driver’s side auto dim mirror not dimming

My rear view and passenger side are dimming fine. The driver’s side is not. I replaced the stock one with a brand new aspheric auto dimming and heated one which I hoped would solve the problem but it did not.

Suggestions for what to try next? People like driving around with their high beams on while on the highway it seems.

Got any pics of the back of the original and the replacement? Connector plugged in?

Auto dim didn’t work before the replacement and still doesn’t work. I disassembled both sides. They are equally well connected but only the passenger side auto dims. Looking for a solution somewhere other than the mirror housings.

Does the mirror move using the interior controls? Did the battery go dead at any point? I'll take a look at my car sometime to see if there's any module that needs to be initiated or anything.

Going to post this for you in case you need to go digging deeper into the connectors etc.

The mirror motor works fine. The battery has not gone dead. I had this problem on my 987 too.

Pop off the mirror and then do a continuity test between the terminals that connect to the mirror and the connector inside the car. Use the directions posted earlier to get to the connector. You need to find out if there is a wiring problem.

What are the odds of a wiring problem across 2 cars. Worth checking anyway.

maybe a contact cleaner like deoxIT is in order?

I had a 987 that didn’t auto dim the driver’s mirror either.

On my 997.1, neither the original mirror nor the new aspheric auto dimming mirror dim. The heat does work though. That’s why I was thinking it was a problem somewhere else in the car.
