Default Powder coating question

Sorry if this has been asked before...I did not find anything in regards to a 997 engine and powder coating.
With doing engine work during this hibernation season, I also have the opportunity to powder coat the valve covers.
I know from an appearance stand...it is all a matter of opinion.
Are there any technical reasons not to powder coat them?

2009 C2S 196k miles

I can offer some tips...flat colors will look like hell after a while with grime. If you want flat, go as flat as you can without causing an appearance problem An experienced coater can help here. I powder coated my exhaust tips flat black and after a while, never looked their best. I considered powder coating wheels and the painter noted this issue... particularly with brake dust that will turn them gold.... he showed how flat he would go. He said he stopped powder coating wheels flat black because customers were coming back and complaining.

Peace

How did you get the base aluminum that clean? Did you bead / soda blast?

Don't do the underside when powdercoating to make sure a piece of cured powder doesn't come loose and get into the engine workings.

I used crushed glass as a blasting media...with softer metal, I did not want anything to abrasive.

Yup, totally agree, I was very careful not to spray the powder onto the underside of the cover.
It took a little bit of time after to clean off any of the material that did make its way there before it went into the oven to cure.

If you decide to stay with clean aluminum (for future efforts), Cerakote makes some room temp cure coatings that do a really nice job.
If not DIY, then many shops can do this for you.
