Default Which 350mm Rotors do we recommend

Hi All -

I'm upgrading my front calipers to 996/997 GT3 6 pots and am wondering about opinions or recommendations on slotted rotors. Part # 997.351.405/406. Looks like Sebro are ~200ea, and porsche OEM are about ~450ea. Anywhere else I should look and any recommendations?

Best,
Alex

I tracked Sebro rotors on a 987.2 Cayman S for years, and had nothing but good things.

I like the dba (Disc Brakes Australia) 2-piece ones so the next time I can just replace the rotor rings. Girodisc are also excellent - have them on one of my 928s that runs 993TT rotors.

Sebro is OEM Porsche (but without the Porsche stamp, numbers, etc.)

Hey Alex
I also have acquired a set of Turbo/GT3 calipers for an upgrade. I have been running factory 350mm rotors with my current setup using stock calipers and spacers. The 350mm factory fronts weigh in at a hefty 26.3lbs. I am deciding if I want to reuse the rotors with about 1500 miles on them with the new 6 pot calipers or get new ones. I am now running (extreme street/light track) Endless CCRG pads and will be using the same in the new calipers as well. I am curious what type of rotors and pads you end up using.

What is the weight difference between Sebro or Zimmerman 350mm discs and the Girodiscs?

Here's what I've gathered all around - I'm curious about DBA but their website lists the 997 Turbo Rotors at either 318mm or 380mm - i've reached out for clarity:

I'm not sure what pads I will run yet i'm still looking around. I will post my parts lists for the full conversion on my build thread with these sheets for anyone else looking.

What size are front C2S rotors? I have dba 2 piece front rotors on my wife's 05 C2S that has the big red S brakes. Maybe they're 330mm or something other than 350mm though.

These are the dba part numbers for the front rotor rings only, rear 1-piece rotors, and the Hawk Ceramic pads we run for low dust / street use.

Those look great Petza and love the calipers. Thanks as always.
I really hope they make 350mm's as the price is right and I'd love 2 piece. And I think I'm going to keep my hawk pads like you.

The OEM C2S is a 330mm front rotor from what I can tell - here's what's on DBA's website for a 997.1 Turbo (for which I need the 350mm for the conversion to work):

It's showing either 318mm or 380mm which is odd.

and for the C2S with regular big red 4 pistons:

I'm wondering if it's a typo or I'm missing something?

On another note - Can anyone confirm what the Shim/Damper part numbers are for the 996.2/997.1 GT3 calipers are? I'm getting mixed information about the piston size if they're all 28mm or vary.

Maybe they don't do a 350mm

KNS Brakes is who distributes them - maybe reach out to to Craig over there and see if he can help or download the dba parts catalog and see what you find in there.

For the pad dampers, Suncoast sells them in mixed sets based on car model. If you go to their site and put in a 2005 C2S with PCCBs or a 996 Turbo with PCCBs and select that PCCB option from their menus, they should have a listing for the set of pad dampeners. I keep a few of each size in my parts cabinet and don't remember which sizes go with the 997 vs the Cayenne.

Girodisc definitely makes a 2-piece 350mm rotor with the right hat offset, but think a pair is around $1,000.

The Girodisc having a larger rotor that weighs less seems like a clear win. More expensive sure, but lightness costs.

Nice bit of data there. I use GiroDisc rotors and just changed my fronts. Very happy with their performance. Worth noting that the two-piece design affords you a good amount of savings when just replacing the discs. I got a 10% Black Friday discount last fall and picked up the replacement discs at $765 for the pair. I have used Ferodo DS3.12 pads but changed to Pagid yellows (RSL19) for last event. Both work well.

Check if your 6pot caliper hardlines are the correct versions for your car. @nwGTS has useful info about his 6 pot upgrade. 6 pot upgrade info with correct hardline part numbers

C2S and GTS needs GT3 lines 9963555819B and 9963555849B
C4S, 4GTS and Turbo shares the same lines
The stock brake line brackets looks to be reused from 997 Carreras according to the chart.
