Default Brake pad question? Do I need this part?

I’m installing new brake pads… do i need to add this metal part to the back of the new pad?it’s a thin piece of metal I found attached to the old one.

I know anti screech shims are on the other model variants but pelican parts told me my base c2 carrera doesn’t have shims. Aren’t these shims? Or are these parts of the old brake pads?

They're the anti-squeal shims, as you mentioned. I'd put them in.

Looks like the endless pads even have a slot for them.

Weill it will be a good test. I put them on in the rear but nothing in the front!

Yes you should always use them. They are the anti squeal shims. I have never bought a new set though. Simply use steel wool and clean up the existing ones, and reuse. They do not wear out. I also always apply anti squeal paste to the back of the pad, except when using track pads for HPDE (which are only used during track weekends).

If you know the ID of your caliper pistons, the better solution is the metal prongs with adhesive rubber pads like the PCCB calipers use. Suncoast should have them.
