I just installed a new battery (Interstate H8 (49) AGM) in my 997.2 C2S and the bolt for the hold down clamp can not secure because the available hole is not threaded. The battery I replaced was also an H8 (49) it was threaded securely in a second hole about an inch next to the hole i'm left with. New battery fits snug underneath the tray lip (checked multiple times). What am I missing here? hold not threaded hold down clamp fits loose and not secure new battery
The outermost hole isn't threaded, correct. If you want to install a larger battery you need to add a nut underneath, just hold it with a wrench as you tighten the bolt.
Also I believe the clamp goes the other way from how you have it there: the raised side should hold down the lower lip of the battery.
