Default 997.2 Battery Replacement - Requires Recoding?

I installed a non-OEM AGM technology battery in my 2011 997.2 GTS without any issues. However, my local independent shop (not Porsche dealer) told me:
"If you do not code the new battery then the vehicle doesn’t know the battery has been replaced. It will then treat the new battery as the old battery. The charging system needs to know the battery's specs, such as its Ah rating, RC rating, and whether it's AGM or lead/calcium. This information helps the charging system set the appropriate charging algorithm. This means that the car's computer won't "recognize" the new battery and will still think the older battery is in use. This will cause the computer to think something is wrong because the data it is seeing doesn’t make sense. Eventually this can cause premature failure of the new battery, vehicle to go into limp mode, or result in the vehicle not starting."
Question: To those who installed a non-OEM battery in your 997.2, is the shop telling me the truth? Does the car need to be recoded for the new battery specs? If so, what tool did/would you use?

TIA.

No coding required.

Does your local shop know your car is a 2011?

The 997.2 is now officially old school. As Workhurts notes, no coding needed or available.

I can’t remember for which car but I think advance auto still says either my BMWs (20+ years old) or Porsches require coding. Must be some system somewhere spreading misinformation.

Registration is only for later model cars that have battery management systems that control charge rate based upon battery voltage, current load, temperature, and battery age. It is also used to charge on downhills (regenerative power harvesting) and control charge rate to maximize battery life. Also used to determine if motor start stop is viable. The 997 pre dates all of that.

My E92 required it. Either 2011 or 2009. Research at the time showed it didn’t matter much. But a coding cable was $30 with software so I did it.
