You are having buyers disease. DO not buy this car. It is a marked specimen now with bad scoring on #6 and going to only get worse.
Be patient, take small steps, find a better example.
And good on you doing the Bore Scope Inspection!! That is a major doing and saved your butt.

Another strike against the followers of the "Oil Sump only" Religon

Appreciate if if people don’t pile on for this. I know it is not without risk.
Wow - That's a bad move.
Buyers will now know to stay far away from that car.
So sorry you didn't take our advice.
But after thinking about it, you may get lucky and find a buyer who insists on an Oil Sump Bore Scope inspection and perhaps that bad scoring on #6 won't be visible??

what gives you the silly idea that the scoring on 6 wouldn’t have been visible from the sump?

This doesn't make any sense. If you get lucky enough to drive the car another 3 years without engine needing rebuild, then what??
Is the warranty transferable so you can sell the car next year and let the next buyer have some sort of comfort/protection??

Well it's good you saw in the video there is bad scoring - Thought you were going to deny it like in the other Bore Scope/Scoring thread.
....And I don't think he'll be taking a bath - I think he will be driving his new toy, then maybe tonight taking a shower.

if it’s visible from the spark plugs holes it’s damned sure visible from the sump. Does it not start at the bottom and progress up the cylinder? Scoping from the plugs will show it if it’s that far along, but if it’s just starting and covered from view by the piston you may not catch it from the plug holes. Either way, it clearly evident here.

Of course but I enjoy rattling the die-hard Spark Plug Hole deniers
All the best T-Flyte!

Why would anyone buy a car with KNOWN bore scoring, confirmed with a scope unless the rebuild cost was baked into the price?

I fear the OP will get hosed with a scored engine and have insult added to injury when the warranty company refuses to cover it. Warranty companies aren't in the habit of cutting $30k checks when collecting $3600 ones. You better read the fine print VERY closely.

Run, don't walk away, there's other fish in the see. Big mistake.

Bizarre series of events and thread in general. Scopes 6 cylinders all from the spark plug holes when you could have just downed the purchase after doing cylinder #6, not to mention that the sump would have been much faster for all 6. Cylinder 6 shows clear scoring. Decides to buy the car....? LOL? What was the point of the bore scope inspection? I am so confused. A warranty won't cover a bore scoring rebuild. Most reputable engine builders in this space will not take 3rd party warranty work anyway.

Car has been documented with a scored engine in public on the internet ! worst thing you can do to yourself and the car !

Hope it works out , If only an occasional use car may never have to deal with the engine internals ?

Like I said before. Poor guy let his emotions get in the way of the purchase decision. We’ve all been there before.

I’m no bore scoring expert but it seems that the tribe is fairly certain there’s evidence of genuine concern. hope he has a positive experience with his new car. If it does start to go south, well, carmax will buy it. They’ll buy anything.

good luck
