Default Stay away from LA Dismantlers used Porsche parts

I recently had the misfortune of dealing with LA Dismantlers.
Be advised these guy are unlike all other used parts sellers.
I have been collecting leather pieces to update my non-leather 997.2
with leather replacement parts. Got the front and rear door panels, rear seats,
A pillars, drivers ignition and lights knee panel plus windshield trim panel.
Bought the center console side trim for one side only for $140
from LA Dismantlers, assuming it was leather. Thought I saw the stitching
in their photo and their $140 price tag indicated to
me it was leather. My bad on making assumptions.
When it arrived I discovered it was vinyl. So I asked If I could return it.
They said no way. This is the first parts shop that refused returns.
Best to avoid these guys to save yourself grief.

Misrepresent may have been a strong/wrong word but regardless even when a customer makes a mistake why not refund? Charge a restocking and shipping and move on.

btw, not sure if your site or not but half the descriptions everywhere else say leather when it’s vinyl and when I type the same part number on your site it pops up a whole bunch of them in vinyl and leather in singles and pairs with pricing and without.

when I was on the hunt for mine it was almost impossible to tell because pictures were all the wrong angles for some reason.

I also couldn’t find in a prominent location on the site what the return policy was. It would be nice if there a link to that. I may sound like a broken record but why not let him return it?

your business your rules but come on …

Heard terrible things about them years ago - If I remember correctly, RL member went thru hell with the poor quality/misrepresented part he purchased and they had typical junkyard ethics.

Default Misrepresent? How??

It’s sad when someone feels the need to damage a company’s reputation for their own mistake. He did not ask any questions prior to purchasing. We did not misrepresent the item nor did he complain about the quality or that it didn’t match what he purchased, just that he made a mistake and was extremely upset with his own error.
Here is the a picture of the listing with part name, part number & detailed pictures.

1) He should have asked questions and verified leather or vinyl.
2) Reputable companies allow returns for a period of time to create customer goodwill. Your policies reveal your ethics.

Years ago there were all sorts of issues with LA Dismantlers. Their EBay freedback was horrible and many complaints.
In all fairness, according to current EBay Feedback looks like they've cleaned up their act-----> However not allowing a return on an unused part is BS junkyard tactics no matter how much of a failure a customer is when ordering a wrong part.
Probably a good idea to change your policy.
Let the Porsche world see how understanding you are and allow the RL member a return.

I bought a part from them and decided not to use it.....I wanted to return it and expected a restocking fee....they refused to accept it back and give any kind of parcial refund. (They could have examined the part on it's return to decide if it warranted a parcial refund). Not good policy as aforementioned regarding "used or junk" parts.

They ARE basically a junk yard. A Porsche junkyard.

You aren't dealing with a Porsche dealership or Pelican or Rennline etc.

They buy wrecked Porsche's and dismantle them and sell the salvageable parts.

I would not do any business with a junk yard that does not take back their stuff. "Junk" is in their name, they need to act like it.
