I added fluids to the car, fired up the engine. It took 2 cranks to start, runs smooth for 5 seconds and oil pressure disappeared. I shut it off (after 5 seconds of running). Got out, looked under neath and found an oil leak the size of Exxon Valdez. It was leaking from the right side of the engine and there is only one thing there to leak oil. It took a couple of hours to disassemble that side (air filter housing, throttle plate, AC compressor, AOS) to find the top righ half of the engine imitating the second part of the Valdez. Hours of clean up and contorting myself into that corner, failure is confirmed. One of the 4 orings at the heat exchanger slipped out of place and got pinched.
I messed around with that oil cooler exchanger several times and I have to say it is a ****ty design couple with bad location. This pos is second only to the serpentine belt tensioner assembly that requires a 15mm open ended wrench on the blind side of the arm.
That first turn of the key is exciting and terrifying for the exact reason you found out today, but at least it wasn't a major mechanical failure. I'm sure the clean-up sucked.
Make sure the o-ring you get is oil resistant or it will break down in short order and you'll get to do this again in 6-24 months, whenever it decides to let go.
Viton is a good material for that application if you can find that.

I am buying from a Porsche dealer. All $2 of it. The engine did fire up and ran pretty smoothly for 5 seconds...
So I got the seal from the dealer today and fixed the offending unit. Then the piece of **** put up one more fight where it burned up the belt tensioner bearing and took out a belt. The dealer had both so I got replacement from them and installed them. The car starts, runs, idles, and in general behaves itself. I did have to top off the coolant twice and PS fluid once. It is still smoking off the exhaust a bit due to the less than stellar oil clean up job after the Valdez incident. I drove it around the block, and around the next two exits on the freeway where coolant temp was rock steady at 175F and oil temp went up as high as 225F on a 81F day.
I got it home, gave it a wash, charged up the AC, and poured myself a dose of Japanese whisky. I sure deserved that one.
