Default Pre purchase advice

Hi all, I'm about to make an offer on a 2012 GTS. The below pics were provided by the dealer with additional pictures to come after he gets it on the lift.

Does everything look okay to you guys? Is the small amount of surface rust a concern? Vehicle comes from midwest region and has 35k miles.

Thank you in advance

You just bought a car! 'cause it will pass PPI with flying colors, rusty exhaust bolts and all. .2's just seem to do this. Enjoy!

It looks really clean, all carbon steel exhausts will burn off the anti rust coating esp after that many years. Even stainless and titanium will change colors due to the heat they just won't rust. Notice all the parts that stay colder still look great. I bet its a nice car and I wouldn't worry about changing anything but the center muffler. GTS came stock with PSE right?

Yes, PSE is standard on the GTS.

Are you suggesting to change the center muffler because of what you see in the photos or is it for performance?

Thank you for your input.

Photos look fine. No need to replace based off of them. However 997.2 911s benefit from a center bypass as it opens up the exhaust and makes it sound better. Of course very subjective. I’d google and listen to some before and after videos and see what you like.

My favorite upgrades:
DSC controller: smooths out the car while retaining sport element of it. No more double bumps going over expansion joints on freeway. $1200
Bovee: Allows Bluetooth streaming and head unit control of iPhone music. $100.
NM automotive is a CarPlay solution for $600.
Shifter: Not sure if the gts has oem short shifter but the numeric is a great upgrade. Same with changing out the gear oil and cables.
remotekey/smartop: Allows horn to honk with either/both lock/unlock, windows down from remote, opening convertible top. Made by mods4cars.

Sure I am missing some but congrats on the purchase!

Well summed up. Almost seems like a waste to have PSE with the 997.2 OEM center muffler. Just strangles the exhaust note unless you like it really quiet.

Seconded on the Remote Key and NM Auto CarPlay/Android Auto upgrade.

I often came back to unlocked doors before the remote key unit.

I would also add a 991.2 steering wheel upgrade, it’s expensive but it’s been worth every $. Really helps modernize the interior.

Does this gap between the front bumper and the hood look normal? Seems a bit wide to me.

It looks fine. The gap is slightly bigger in that area. Here are some photos of my car that I have owned since it was brand new:

Default Easy fix if you like

I have a C4S in Milwaukee. 3000 mi/yr is average for our fair weather drivers. That's what this looks like. If the PPI all checks out, the exhaust corrosion is inconsequential. It looks like a fair-weather sports car that's been garaged and cared for.

Having the engine and exhaust detailed will make it look a lot better. Then drive it. In time you may want to change the exhaust, or have your exhaust ceramic coated and keep it.

Would the dampness on the oil pan indicate a leak?

On mine, when I change oil it always seems to drip and discolor there slightly and then I try to wipe it and spread the goodness around.

my guess is that it’s from wiping oil drips during a change.
