Congrats on your journey back to a 997. I have a similar story, but never liked the 997...until now. I bought a 991.2 S last year and just never bonded with the car. It was a PDK and I love shifting gears with a stick. Found myself driving my 2008 Golf GTi more. Lol.

Anyway, found a 2007 997 yesterday, base model, silver, manual, with very little extras (none, I think) but the first drive was fantastic. Silky smooth clutch and gearshift, quick acceleration - all I really need. An awful PCM (which I plan to replace) is the only negative. It has lowered suspension and quad exhaust pipes so I'm not sure what else is not stock but will find out in time. The suspension felt great on the short test drive but the car does need a bit of exhaust magic (gundo/fister hack on the to-do list)

I'll be keeping an eye in this thread for inspiration and to learn about my "new" car. Thanks.

Thank you and congrats on your new car!

Did you end up getting the base? I saw your post about looking at an S too. I think performance wise, they will be similar in real world use. The big thing will be colors and options. On the C2 that I sold, I did not have PASM. That’s an option I really missed having. I’m sure you will enjoy either one you get. Cheers!

I don't want to derail this wonderful thread of your 997 journey so will update in the other thread I created. I'm flying up to see the S tomorrow morning. Really hope I like the stone grey interior because the rest of the car ticks all my boxes, one of which is PASM.

Do you mind sharing parts list when you get a sec? From the outside driver door, if I open door, it drops, but when door is open it goes back up. From inside driver's side I can open and it drops and stays down -- does this sound like yours?

I have the same condition on the driver's side (2006 Cab MT).

Mine would do the same thing whether it was opened from the inside or outside. I believe there is a sensor inside the door lock mech that goes out. The door doesn't know if it is open or closed causing the window to go back up once the handle is released.

The actual parts I used were in the picture. 3D1837015C is the lock mech and the two bolts that hold it to the door are WHT000439 x2. The bolts are triple square so make sure you have the right socket.

The end links were not called out in the PPI but they seems a little loose. The OE maker for Porsche is Lemfoerder from what I understand. Fairly cheap to replace.

On the fronts I just replaced the end links. On the rears, I replaced the bushings too.

I wanted a little more sound without going loud. I ordered the Sharkwerks center muffler delete. The exhaust components were looking a little crusty with some surface corrosion. I found the most cost effective and functional way to resolve is ceramic coating. There is shop in town who will media blast and ceramic coat. It's made for high temperature exhaust components. He said this will hold up and not discolor either. I dropped off all the heat shields, brackets and clamps too. I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out.

I am waiting a couple of replacement heat shields to install the mufflers and the rest. Also waiting on stainless nuts and bolts for the exhaust clamps. I went ahead and installed the manifolds with new hardware.

Thanks, ordered the parts plus the microswitch. This was a pretty easy DIY?

Its not too bad. Here is a really good DIY. https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/...058282#1058288 There is also a good one from Pelican too on their site.

The hardest part for me was removing the handle from the mech connector. I didn’t have the DIY when I did mine. There is a really good picture of it in the above DIY. It would have saved me some money for the swear jar.

Getting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The lugs on the car were some kind of chrome non-OE. Since I am replacing them anyway, I went ahead and got the XRP option set.

I finally got time this week to get the inner heat shields mounted up. During lining everything up, I realized I had a cracked outer heat shield/bumper support. Quick call to Gaudin to order one up. Gaudin is really fast getting parts in from the warehouse. Most of the time, they have it the next day.

The protective PPF strip that goes between the body and the bumper was coming loose. Replaced it too before reinstalling the bumper.

And the last couple of pictures is the aftermath. It felt good to trash all that in the bin before they picked up this week!

Many thanks @anewman for sharing the link. This is what I was looking for. Simple, clean and sturdy!

So, I went on a hunt and FOUND IT at Course MotorSports (a sister company to Rennline!!!) for $35. Very simple, very high quality, no logo, rubber face, strong magnetic hold, direct and perfect fit onto my existing Rennline mount. Love it! Here is a link. https://coursemotorsports.com/collec...and-steel-ring. (FYI - Rennline offers a charging version with the cord for $70 for those of you who want/need those features)

Haven’t updated this in a while. I put on new Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02’s in June. I’ve been happy with them.

Next I need to address the front bumper cover. I need to remove the old PPF. Depending on what it looks like underneath, I may have the nose cover repainted.

I think I am going to order the GTS/GT2 side skirts. I saw them on a 4S and I liked the profile.

Washed and cleaned.

Looking good!

I am also considering GT2 side skirts for my .2C4S.

have you priced them at Gaudin? Suncoast has the set for $1095.

If you pull the trigger, post up some pics!
