Default New 997.2 C2S owner!

Hey all!

I’ve wanted a 911 ever since I can remember. When I was a kid in the 80s, my neighbor/friend’s mom had an old mid-70s Targa that she used to cart us around in. I can still remember the flat-six hum of that car, and even back then I knew it was something special. I’ve always had an affinity for Porsches, more so than any other car (except maybe the Vector, if any of you remember that!).

I've spent the last few years looking on and off for the right car, with a pause of a few years when my wife and I lived in Asia. When we moved back to the US last year, I really got serious about it. I looked at a bunch of different cars, including a couple of 996 turbos (fantastic cars!), and a 997.1.

Finally, the right car showed up and yesterday I purchased a six speed 997.2 Carrera 2S with less than 40k miles! I’m in the middle of driving it back to Colorado from San Francisco right now. Great trip so far, and it’s been a fun way to acquaint myself with the car. I still can’t believe it’s mine!

I saw that one advertised somewhere - maybe Facebook. Recognize it from the vinyl graphics.

Congrats. I drove one of my 997s home to SC from PA and the other from MI. Great way to learn the car and start the bonding process.

Car looks very sharp. :Love the Carrera Sport wheels and the contrast between the wheels and body.
Safe travels.

Thanks all! Made it back to Colorado today! Really a fun drive!

Day 1:
San Francisco- San Luis Obispo (left SF late)

Day 2:
San Luis Obispo - Saint George, UT

Day 3:
Saint George - Glenwood

Day 4:
Glenwood - Conifer

I definitely could’ve cut a day off, but wanted it to be fun and day driving. Also, I-80 was out due to weather in Reno. The car did amazing, despite having 8 year old MP PS2s (in good condition at least!).

I was a little worried about Glenwood - Conifer today, particularly since it got down to about 18F last night in Glenwood. Car started right up, and I-70 was almost completely dry the entire way. Only moment of concern was when I discovered the window wash fluid was frozen! Fortunately it thawed out before I really needed it (CA car, so maybe they used water?).

Overall about 1300 miles, and a great way to acquaint myself with the car! I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.
