Just some miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge. We've got a ton of wonderful roads to drive in our backyard!!!

Maybe so. I haven't looked at a wiring diagram or had that pull out tab assembly out of the car to see how it connects.

Don't forget the magic relay that lives behind the fuse panel which powers on with the pull out so you can get out of the mess you got yourself into.. Been there-done that.

Proud owner of a Wayne Smith wire system on a black 997 GTS. Would have came in handy if I knew it was there when I killed my battery last weekend lol.

Wayne, first of all thanks for the great idea of using bicycle brake cables!

I bought the one that either the sleeve or the cable is Teflon coated even through I'm sure that it's overkill because the cable run is pretty straight but hey it was only a couple of bucks more.

While creating that "pull" loop that sits behind the right side marker light, I noticed that it really needed something to keep that loop from tightening around my finger. So I came up with this very cheap but very doable enhancement that's readily available just about anywhere.

Default Did it, too

On my 2010 turbo. Turns out that the release lever pulls toward the passenger side. I had a nylon thing, like a 6’ stiff tie strap. It was perfect for fishing the bicycle brake cable. Great idea, Wayne! Good advice to carefully mark the position of the latch assembly before removing. The inside bolt was 10mm. The outside nut I had a hard time sizing. I think I ended up using a 11mm socket with a battery ratchet. I used safety wire as opposed to a tie strap. I had too much trouble doing the tie strap. I used a bolt, nut and washer for the other end. I wish I had a crimper of some kind. Of course, now that I’ve done this, I’ll never need it. But I like knowing it’s there. Thanks to all the posters!

Default Improved it today

Installed one on my friend’s 997.2 today. Since I made every mistake yesterday it when quickly today. Made cable and sheath deliberately long and cut after fishing it through. Made both longer than yesterday. The big improvement was obviating the need for the tie strap or safety wire. The lever pulled by the new cable can itself be crimped/squeezed by pliers so that it hold the cable end in place. See picture.

I screwed up the light fixture holder by yanking the aft end out away from the car instead of back toward the end of the car first. Had to bend the metal clip back after figuring out how it worked.

Also improved the hand pull end.
