Pic of bore scoring from my PPI good or bad?
Looking at a 2005 C2S and in the PPI they found this scoring. It's an indy shop doing the inspection and unfortunately this is the best pic they could get. Anyone have any idea or enough experience with this to tell if this is severe scoring and if I should walk from this? Greatly appreciate any info or advice. Great car otherwise.

Horrible photo - What shop provided you with this worthless image??
You should have been given good focused photos of each cylinder and usually 2-3 photos of each cylinder.

I thought the bore scope images I was given were not very helpful. But wow, what you've been given is not useful in the least. If I paid extra to specifically get bore scope photos taken, I would object to paying for that part of the PPI if this is what you've been given. All that said... if they can verbally tell you the moving images they saw during the scope told them without a doubt there is significant bore scoring (they just couldn't get a good still image for you) then you might want to take them at their word.

Op:
Sorry you got such a crappy photo but as crappy as it is, that 1 you have doesn’t look good. If that’s all I had to go by, I would walk….not worth the risk, unless you are willing to rebuild engine or engine swap which are very costly options…

Here's one of mine from several years ago. I probably got 7-8 from one cylinder. Not the best equipment even at that time, but you can see the scoring unambiguously.

To give you some idea of how a bad cylinder can look, here are 2 photos from 2 997"S" cars I PPI'd/Bore Scope Inspected last August/September prior to finding my current 2006 C4 which showed very clean cylinders at 106K miles.
Important to point out the 997 with the cracked cylinder was a 2006 997S with 84K miles and lived in Vancouver BC. The car was traded into Porsche dealership in Bellingham near the Border.
The second car was also a 2006 997S with 78K miles and lived in Portland.
This first photo shows Scoring on left and a cracked cylinder on right:
This photo below shows the Scoring from rings - The Indy who was a very well reviewed Porsche Specialist in Portland explained the car also ran rough and he believed the issue was related to this cylinder:

How much does a bore scope cost? I probably should have taken a peak when I did my spark plugs. On that note, if you go through the effort and it looks clean wonder how many people change plugs and coils right there and then, as you're 99% of the way there.

The pictures were taken with the engine out of the car for a really intensive service and it was much easier to do then. With pictures like that from above, there was no need to open up the oil pan from below. The camera was a run of the mill $40 job and was good enough for those pictures. And, yes the oil consumption has gotten worse. I am waiting for a time slot to do this in 2023.
I do agree with the others that the OP's original picture is really worthless. I would not pay for that.
