Like the seats a lot! These should come stock and the optional sport seats should be even crazier than these!

Plastic? Take a closer look. I hope that this leather interior is standard.

The body looks improved, but the interior is still hideous, as are the rims. It still appears to have no soul. I second the Aston Martin AM V8 choice. If the AM V8 price is not ridicules, there's no competition in my opinion.

Whoa? Complaints about the light switch????? Oh my god, who cares? What kind of light switch would you prefer? I think the dash looks sleeker and a little slimmer. Ok, the steering wheel design i a little goofy, but oh well. Does the lightswitch effect how the car handles? Ok maybe metal rocker switches or ***** like a spyker or zonda would be neat, but i feel its all secondary. Shoot, if anything go to radioshack and get your own switch that suits you.

I dont mean to flame, its just i always hear people raggin' on these secondary details. Who cares what japanese comapnies offer, or anyone else offers. I bet this new 911 drives even better than the previous. I think thats all that counts. And yes, at least they are moving back towards a more traditional view.

I think it's horrid - that clock has to go!

Also, I don't think Porsche is going to win by going back to the 993 look - I mean, the gearshift looks very 993, but I think the standard 996 shift is much nicer.

I don't want to feel like I am driving some 80's Audi Fox!

interior looks like crap. so much for porsche originality. absolutely hate it. i'll somehow have to buy a 996 interior to put in the 997. then i can be like all the other mod squad and make porsche that's not a porsche.

Who cares? I do! My 993 is 9 years old and still has the same leather smell. Everything I touch in the car spells quality, uniqness and a 911 identity. While borrowing parts from VW's ( the light switch is not the only one) might not bother some ( and that is fine by the way), it does bother me. IMO 911's are unique, should be unique and should stay unique. Have you looked at the built sheet where Porsche charges you up to wazoo for every little thing you want to upgrade? Why would I have to accept VW parts and pay Porsche prices for them? I'm sorry, but if you pay so much money for a vehicle like that I think that you expect every little detail to be unique. Look at the new Aston Martin which is going to go head to head with the Turbo. Every little detail to that car is Aston. They made the mistake with the Vanquish to "borrow" parts from mama Ford but did not repeat in the baby Aston wisely so...
For sure the new 911 will be a great driving car, but what if the next model "borrows" a VW V8 ? I'm sure still that it will drive like a dream and better than the 997.
Just my 02.
